if u r price concious. once u hit gold elite on nw air, you can then buy 3 roundtrips to bkk - hnl they will then give you 2 free flights.
i dont know why but nw charges only 40k miles. delta charges 60k and china air charges 105k.

Back on topic, I just booked my flight for BKK on eva evergreen deluxe. I have flown both the economy and the economy deluxe and to me the extra $180 for flying deluxe is worth. The only thing I am kinda wondering about is if the flight is not packed then I might get my own row in economy and save the money. Oh well, I am just glad I was able to get the time off on such short notice.

I just checked expedia and the tickets on the same days I am traveling on the same airline (EVA) is down $50 bucks a ticket....
Then I checked EVA's website and it says those days "sold out"
expedia must be sweating the tickets they are sitting on.
shit I should of waited...mai pen lai

Very often with Expedia, they will show tickets available at a certain price, but you won't be able to book them. That's happened with me many times, both for international and domestic flights.
As a rule, you are usually better off booking through the airlines' websites, especially now that many have "lowest price" guarantees.

We BKK 2 Nite Bro's need our own monthly charter from the USA/Euro side.
Say LAX-HON then party 1 night- Manila then party 2 nights-BKK party till following months return due.
My other bro's fly through StarAlliance but have paid / flown dearly to get business class upgrades; mainly trapped on United oldies to Japan then BKK.
Me Im stuck with Delta/China Air/Alaska sides. Some business class upgrades are so so.
I say the new planes are great and the older traps need to be refurbished. Plus bein trapped in for 14 hrs sucks, especially with the Nyquil ban/gels/liquids etc.
Although recently lifted to 3 oz's.
Wish British Air flew the Pacific side; loved em in UK.
Also wish I had 1.9 billion USA from the Shin Corp deal to fly anywhere anytime that suits me.

I take a couple of prescription sleeping pills called Sonata after the first meal service. They stay in the body only four hours. I wake up in time for the snack or second meal service (on the entreme long haul flights), then take another two pills to put me back to sleep another four hours. Sleeping eight hours makes a 12-14 flight, or even the extreme 17-hour flights, go rather quickly. And the pills are mild enough that I don't feel groggy on arrival. But you can only get them with a doctor's prescription, at least in the U.S.
