Good deal considering that you are allowed to receive Skyteam miles too. Very good deal.

I will start off by saying that this is a great board!!! I am now thinking that I may go on Korean Air rather than China Air. I know I will have to pay about another $60 for the flight but I have heard that you can get FF miles with K.A. and when you have enough you can get a free domestic ticket on Delta. Although you cant get FF miles through them directly on your Delta FF miles acct (if that makes any sense). I found out that with this deal I can get 11,000 FF miles from LAX to BKK. Even though the flight is longer is it worth it? Does China Air have a similar deal with FF miles? How nice is Korean Airlines to fly with?? Thanks, Doug FYI they held the price for me for 7 days while I make up my mind, so if you are considering booking, set it up now.

They have had this deal frequently. The first time I flew KE I seem to recall that they had individual TV screens in coach, but in August this year they no longer had them on these flights (bummer). Otherwise the seats, service, etc was OK--not bad but not great. I was able to get FF miles directly on my Delta Skymiles account. Just let them know your Delta account number at check-in on the first leg. Obviously, don’t try and get both KE and Delta Air FF miles. Keep your boarding passes and ticket receipt just in case. The connection is at Incheon International Airport, which was newly built for the recent World Cup played in Korea. It’s a nice airport and several places in the terminal have computers with free Internet access (next to cafes on 4F, one floor up from main terminal). If you opt for one the longer layovers in Korea for your connecting flight (some are about 10-12 hours) you can stay at the Air Garden Transit Hotel right in the terminal (two locations, East and West on 4F), without having to clear immigration. The cost for 8 hours is about $55 USD. I think you can rent rooms in increments of 2 hours, but it may depend on time of day. Best to make reservations in advance at airhotel@walkerhill.co.kr and then fax credit card info. English version of the website is a little messed up: http://www.airgardenhotel.com There is also a place for a shower or massage (also on 4F). I don’t remember the price for showers, but it was on the upper level near both hotels (east and west). Hours of operation for showers are somewhat limited if your flight arrives very early in the morning (as some do).

FF miles someimes are not worth much. I have enough for a trip to Bangkok on NW. Tried any dates Feb Mar or Apr and they said nothing available from Seattle. Was able to get good dates for Feb on United using my United miles. Had lots of choices. On my last trip on United was upgraded to Business Class between Seattle and Tokyo which was a pleasant suprise. Anyone else had the same problem with Northwest.

NWA is notorious for not releasing award seats for BKK travel. Basically they don't have to because they are always able to sell them. You will have better luck redeeming your miles to get you to SIN and then spend $200 to fly to BKK. A pain in the ass but sometimes neccessary to do if you want to use miles. I switched to UAL and Star Allinace about 3 years ago because NWA was a pain in the ass. UA is not that much better service wise but the planes are newer and I can use my miles for award travel on any Star carrier to get to BKK(Thai, ANA, Singapore,Asiana,UAL). Also as a 1K flyer in their MP program they give you 6 systemwide upgrade certificates to use.

Well I am considering all options now with all the good suggestions everyone has given me. I think now I may just fly United ($797 Rt Cleveland to BKK) and save my buddy pass for some other trip later this year. Anyone who has anything good, bad, or funny to say about this airline is welcomed by me. Again I have not booked it but I have it reserved. I found that I could get 19,000 FF miles through them also, I was in shock for that price to get so many FF miles. Thanks again and I hope I don't start any arguments with this posting, Doug

Are you a Premier member with UAL? Do you have FF account with them?

United is your best option. I have had no trouble with them. You will probably be switched to Thai once you get to either NRT or HKG as United does not fly into BKK now (except cargo). Thai is good too.

You are extremely incorrect. UAL does fly into BKK the connection is thru NRT not HKG. They stoppped nonstop HKG-BKK flights 2 years ago when they cut Asia-Pacific capacity. They only recently this year started USA-HKG flights again and had discontinued and now reinstated those flights due to SARS. They just recently started flying 747's to Asia again instead of solely 777's. How do I know you may ask? I have already flown them 5x this year to Asia. I flew UA last month and will be flying them again in the next couple of weeks to BKK. Now if the info you provide is current(schedules and routes do change with little notice) then I will admit that I am wrong. I will also call the 1K desk tomorrow and re-do my seating.
