I am looking to hire a car (pref Honda CRV type SUV) for a day later this month, since the GF and I are taking a trip to the beach. However since I need to get her back home in the evening, before her parents come looking for me with a shotgun (oh the joys of having a good TGF!), I need to find a rental outfit which lets me pick up very early and drop off very late.
Tried the usual Hertz etc. but can't seem to find anywhere which permits this. I would have thought that the airport would have car rental desks, but can't remember seeing any (since I would normally not even think of driving anywhere near BKK). Whilst having to travel to and from Don Muang to pick up and drop off isn't ideal, at least it isnt too far out of my way for collecting and dropping the GF, and I guess should have close to 24hr operation.
Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

Avis is at the Airport. National is in Big Hotel across Highway from Airport. Good experiences with Avis. Bad experience with National in LOS, althought rent from them at home all the time (Emerald Isle member).

Check out a few limo drivers. You would be surprised how cheap you can negotiate one to stay with you all day. A good deal compared to car rental fees, and especially given the peace of mind in not having to fight the traffic -and the autjhorities in the very possible event of an accident. (Farangs don't fare well in the courts.)
Besides TGF will be most impressed.
And don't forget the hands-free fun possibilities on the way to and from the beach...
