I'm starting to plan my next trip to LOS.  The dreaded 19 hour flight in narrow cramped seats in a packed plane is a true slave ship experience and the only negative of the trip (Cathay Pacific economy).  No pain no gain.

I've heard on Evergreen Airline, EVA  Deluxe class you get business class seating with coach service at a reasonable price.  How is EVA Deluxe service and seating accomandations?  Inflight food and drinks?  Do EVA flights arrive on time, what is the airline track record?  Any other EVA info appreciated.

Where else can you get a business class seat for under $1,000 US RT?

I have used EVA's Evergreen Deluxe several times. Seats are good, service is quick and friendly, They are usually on time, the stop-over at Taiwan is not long. I like em.

I fly Evergreen when ever I can, and EVA has great service, in the air and on the ground.

Note that the food in Evergreen Deluxe is the same as coach, which is pretty good.  The seats are the real advantage, being business class 2-up, with individual video screens.  The only better seating at the price, is if the plane is empty, and you can get 3 across in coach to sleep on...not too likely in the future...

I have flown Thai, China, JAL and Korean, but EVA is BY FAR the best, and their 11AM arrival (from the west coast of the US) is WAY better than getting in at 11:50PM or 1:00AM on most other carriers.

happy landings,

I only use Eva, whenever available Evergreen Deluxe class, if fully booked, business class, in both categories, Eva is delivering great value for "small" money, just economy I wouldnt recommend, seats are hell...

I have been flying with EVA for last 3 years no complaint. Mostly business class but my last week trip was in Deluxe economy and is definately better than coach. Only complaint I had was you can't lift all the handles and make a bed if you happend to find three empty seats together

I have a friend who flew Eva Delux and he really liked it, but he had a long stopover last time and so now he's sore about it.  That's the travel agent's fault if you ask me.

This time I'm flying AA for US$700 RT after TTL.  They supposedly have "More Room" seating, so I'm hoping it will be okay.  Often fly Delta and SW myself, but even they aren't perfect.  Stay the hell away from Northwest if you want good seating!  Those seats are killers, even for just a couple hours!

used to fly Evergreen Deluxe from london al the time, the direct service at reasonable cost is good value. Not flown with them for a few years. But the seats at the fron (forgotten the numbers row 21 I think) are superb, and in the same position as 1C my favourite BA seat.

The food and drink used to be upgraded, with proper "glass" and china (not quite bus class but better than standard economy). They also did decent after meal cognac etc. Last time I flew with then was before September the 11th, so YMMV. Also had seperate check in unlike BA premium econmoy for instance and larger baggage allowance.

Recent reports at SkyTrax suggest that they might have lost the plot however.

Flew EVA Deluxe last May/June. The Business class seating is the only plus. The rest is straight economy class. No after dinner cognac, offered wine with dinner. But had to request any additional drinks (not offered). Only couple of English movie channels offered. On a 16 hour flight watched all movies and only half way through flight.

Again the wide comfortable seating makes it worth it.

I fly them all the time and have had good service every flight though a friend was refused drinks after his 3rd round, he had hit the lounge before so no comment!!

Will be flying them again tomorrow Taipei to Bangkok, Deluxe is worth the extra but as others have said if cattle class is not full dash back and grab extra seats.
I can sleep very well in Delxe with the aid of a couple of after dinner brandies.
