Bros,
Even though I've to BKK a few times, I have not really wandered around the airport.
I'll be arriving again soon, the trouble is my friend is arriving 2 hours earlier than me and he insists on waiting at the airport coz its his first time in BKK.
I would like him to wait at the departure hall coz its a little more 'comfy'. We will be arriving in Terminal 2.
I've noticed that some of you guys actually head to the departure hall to get a taxi....just wanted to know how you get to the departure hall after you clear customs at arrival.
From what I gather, we have to pass all the taxi touts first and after this there will be an escalator to departure.......is this accurate.....would really appreciate a little more detailed directions.

Once you exit baggage claim, you walk to the left and take 2 escalators up to arrivals. Walk outside and there will be taxi's pulling up and dropping people off. Just grab one. They have always used the meter.
As for waiting, in arrivals there is no lounges until you pass through immigration (to exit Thailand). Your friend will not be able to do this, and he cannot get there from the baggage claim. So he is out of luck in this area. He could walk over to the airport hotel and grab a drink there, then come back and meet you when you arrive.
Or just tell him to tell the taxi "Eden Club Soi 7/1". They have people there who can help him kill 2 hours

To my rescue....

After baggage claim we have to pass through the customs right? So the escalator I presume comes after the customs check?

after customs turn left and you will see 2 escalators going up to departures! that is what cg said and is! also you have a lift to go upstairs to departures!
at departures there isn't anything to do. better venture even one more floor up. there are some food courts also a burger king, pizza hut and other restaurants probably the best area to wait and meet each other!
