Hi All,
One more day before touchdown in BKK. I can't wait. Hoping to meet up with delta, chrisboy, spacelab and many other forum bro's. One question. I heard that there's a way to avoid paying the airport tax if you're in Bkk for less than 30days and you're in transferring to your final destination. Does anyone know about this and what forms you need to fill out. Appreciate any tips.

Let me know if you find anything. It's actually only 500 baht. It is a lot more reasonable than trying to leave NRT or ICN, but hey, 500 B is 500 B, right? Could be better spent elsewhere.

I was told by one member here that some Germans got f_ck broken so darn fast while in LOS, so they had to approach the Embassy (phone call) for some B/.500 cash help in order to elave the country....I remember him saying that the Embassy had an agreement with an airline in order to help the Germans in need....so hilarious....!!!!

... you can tip a local a few baht to ship you across the Mehkong at Nong Khai or Mukdahann - which puts you in Laos with no visa ... but out of Thailand cheap !! otherwise pay the man !

I haven't paid the tax in 2 years. ÝWhen you go to the place to pay the tax, tell them that you are exempt since you are just going to apply for a different visa and will return within 7 days (any number less than 7). ÝWorks for me each time. ÝAn exception to the rule. ÝSome don't know about it but I tell them to check with a supervisor and all is OK then.

Hi Cali boy,
I know one sure way of avoiding the 500 B tax. It could even make you some money. It is very simple. Take 1 kilo of heroine thru customs and make sure they see it. I garantee you, you will never ever have to pay the 500 B. Works every time.

Winner, I do not understand your post. This tax is paid when you depart LOS. After you check in you pay it in a machine and get a receipt. The receipt is checked before going through customs and into the duty free zone.
Please explain how you do it.
