You are welcome. I am surprised you didn't find the info there. I haven't been in that forum for a while, but there are all kind of very specialized dicussions going on there. If not in a post itself there are many links to sites that have the prices for RTW tickets from all the alliances and major airlines combos from each location. I remember seeing those websistes. The links are somewhere there. Let me check...... .... (5 minutes later) I just did a search there for "RTW Thailand" and a few threads came up. Among them this one: RTW ex BKK pricing! The first post there starts by saying: "Please see our Star Alliance Round the World Fares as below (excluding tax) FARE BASIS THB MAXIMUM MILEAGE (MILES) " And it is dated April 21st. Not that long ago. Additionally JUST in the STAR ALLIANCE forum (the one you ask about) there are 41 different threads in the last 3 months just in RTW matters. I would give it another try. (shhh.... the info is really there.... you just need to really look for it. I will give you a couple fares I just saw in one of the posts: CRWSTAR1 will set you back 167,290 Baht; and FRWSTAR3 344,490 Baht) If you still cannot find it come back let me know and I will give you the links. I am trying to help you more by not giving you all the info digested. This way next time you can find it yourself. Good luck.

FARE BASIS THB MAXIMUM MILEAGE (MILES) FRWSTAR 3 344,490 or $8,704.78 39,000 FRWSTAR 2 293,490 or $7,416.08 34,000 FRWSTAR 1 255,190 or $6,448.28 29,000 CRWSTAR 3 225,890 or $5,707.92 39,000 CRWSTAR 2 192,390 or $4,861.42 34,000 CRWSTAR 1 167,290 or $4,227.17 29,000 MAXIMUM PERMITTED MILEAGE PER FARE - 29.000 FOR RWSTAR1 FARES 34.000 FOR RWSTAR2 FARES 39.000 FOR RWSTAR3 FARES You can purchase directly from any of the Star Alliance carriers that service BKK. Typically you would purchase from the carrier that would operate your first flight, but this is not a requirement. Off hand I know UA, LH, TG, SQ, NH, SK all service BKK. You would purchase the ticket in Thailand at one of the carriers' ticket office in the city or at the counter at BKK. Personally I would probably purchase from LH, then maybe SQ, then TG. I have purchased all of my *A RTW's from LH. There are also many "specials", like 'Cirlce Pacific' fares that are available. This travel agency in BKK has received favorable reports, but I have no first-hand experiences: http://www.businessclasstickets.com/airstaralliance.htm One nuance: you can purchase a *A RTW at the ex-BKK (or ex-anywhere) price in Canada, but you would of course have to begin your trip in BKK. Currently the ex-BKK prices are second only to ex-CAI (Cairo, Egypt) prices, as far as I am aware. South Africa used to be the cheapest.

I understand that Tripoli is even cheaper than Cairo (trouble is getting there). But yes, Cairo is from a practical standpoint the cheapest. I have a friend who lives in Madrid that travels to Cairo just to be able to buy the RTW ticket there.

It used to be a requirement. Have they relaxed this rule? Also for a change in itinerary (change of destination - not dates), you need (ed) to get the ticket modified by the original issuer. If the former rule condition has changed, I would assume this one too.

Mad. Why buy them here in LOS when you get hit by the mad tax. Buy them on line from a company based in a counrty that will not rip it out of you. Who's buying the beers. If you spending $5000 hey that's $500 saving
