Hi,

- Is it much more expensive to buy air tickets at BKK airport to Phuket, Koh Samui and Viet Nam than on the I-net? or is it even possible (goes for Viet Nam as well).

The reason for not buying them all from back home is that it is my first trip alone to Thailand, or anywhere else for that matter (on my own). So I would like to be able to stay at the same place if I am enjoying myself or leaving if I am bored or lonely.

Thank You

It is probably most convenient (and not more exepensive) to buy them from a travel agent in Bangkok at the time you decide when to travel. Search this forum for travel agent recommendations (Thailand Travel Service Soi 4 is good), or just shop around.

Bored in Thailand? Likely not. Lonely? Not a chance.

Used a travel agent in BKK for flight to chang mai. Grabbed a cab to go to the airport to buy tickets, he of course said no no, I take you good travel agent. So I did it. I had already researched the prices on the net, and suprizingly the travel agent was $4us cheaper for the airfare. They got me good on the hotel though. It was crap, and way over priced.

Thailand has such great infrastructure for internal travel Im surprised why anyone would use a travel agent.

Tired of Bangkok and want to go to Phuket on a whim? Just rock up to the airport and buy your tickets like you would for a bus. At the other end just go to the hotel reservations booth and pick out a hotel out of about 100 choices, after referring to the picture book.

Have to agree with Jr on this...

For example - flying from Udonthani to BKK was expensive as there was only one airline 'Thai' at 1,850 Baht one way until recently.

Now there is three and a possible fourth if Udonthani proceeds with its upgrade (new terminal being built) and 'International status' a possible reality as the airport was only one of three domestics that makes a profit etc. etc.

1. Thai 1350 3 flights a day morning, lunch and evening
2. Orient Thai 1250 1 flights a day morning
3. Air Asia 1013 2 flights a day afternoon and evening
price approx - special deals apply.

Well spread out through the day from approx 7am to 7pm

Makes things very easy, just turn, pay and off you go.

If you plan your trip in advance you can now make considerable savings with AirAsia.

Here in Singapore, you can either book Air Asia online or at the selected Singapore Post Offices.

And if I got this right (from their website), the quopted low fare is only valid for a oneway ticket. So where does one purchase the ticket for the return journey? Im presuming the return ticket for a SIN-BKK-SIN trip must be purchased in Bangkok.

What are the options to buy Air Asia tickets in Bangkok?

$46 USD BKK to Udorn Thani, over priced, I don't think so. If one considers the cost of the plane, crew, fuel and infrastructure. Thai is losing money flying this cheap.
