Thanks to jingjo and SO5 for the info on flights to PP. Has anyone out there made the trek from PP to Siem Reap? If so what mode of transportation did you use? What was the price? And would you recommend that mot to others? Thanks.

I flew from BKK to SR to PP back to BKK, and I think the SR to PP leg was about $60 US. Since time is usually a factor for me, I chose to spend the $ on the one-hour flight vs the several hours by boat or car. Roads have improved but I think it's still around 8 hours by car.

Check out President Airlines once you are in Phnom Penh or book the ticket at Bangkok. Once again time comes into it,overland several hours,or by air around 45-50 min. Give yourself two day`s to check out the temples, any more than that you will be templed out Kone - ling S05..

Bangkok Airways flies from SR to PP. It takes about 1 hour. It is a reliable, clean and inexpensive airline. The planes all appear to be new. I paid US$ 80 one way in 2003. Do not go overland unless you are a masochist. I agree that 2 full days are enough to see all the temples. Rent a car and driver for the day ($20). They are everywhere. He will wait for you at each site and it will save you a hell of lot of time. Buy a pirated copy of the Lonely Planet Cambodia book sold at the temples for $5 and then give it away when you depart. For the average tourist, this book really has all the info you need on SR. Bring some photographs of yourself for the entry permit into the temples area as this will save you some time instead of waiting around while they take your photo, etc. Bring lots of US $1 bills to Cambodia!!!!!!!! Have fun.

Thnaks to RR, SO5 and mobius for your advice, air travel sounds good, overland bad, has anyone dealt with the boat? I'll be in Thailand/Cambodia for almost a month so as long as the journey is reasonably comfortable, a scenic trek up the Tonle Sap might be nice. On the other hand, I don't want to end up swimming to Siem Reap

I did the boat... Wasn't in a hurry and wanted to see the scenery- from that perspective we enjoyed it a lot. Gotta wake up before dawn to make it to the boats. You'll sit (lay down) up top, so make sure one of your bags is a soft duffel you can use as a pillow for the boring 'middle of the lake' bit. Sit towards the front of the boat as splashes tend to come up around the middle of the boat and spray folks who are sitting there. Wear sunscreen as the sun is damn hot and you can't feel it because of the breeze.
