1st Class is only about 50$ more from Bangkok to Phuket, is it worth it? Are the seats any better, what is the diff from the cheap seats?

Thanks as always.

Guess you mean business class....
Normaly no first class on domestic flights with Thai Airways.
The difference is that you have a bit better seat, some more space but most importantly it is often a bit moer quiet than in economy class.
Worth the money? I did it many times out of habit.

Is it really worth the difference? Up to you to decide. But as Manuel said the seats are bigger, it is quieter, and they do serve a meal depending on when you fly. You also get the standard welcome drink, hot towels, and news papers. Go ahead, splurge, you are on vacation.

Let me throw in the contrary viewpoint. $50 for a bigger seat for a 1h20m flight? No I can think of a lot of other things to do with $50 especially in LOS.

1 more soapy comes to mind. I'll take that over a hot towel and a paper any day. An extra $10 a night on a hotel room for 5 nights will get you a better room that you'll enjoy longer. The list goes on.

It seems ironic to me how people stress over their flights more than their accomodations which is where your comfort really counts. I know I'm anlaysing this to death and I'm a cheapskate, no need to tell me that in a post. This is just MHO, I'm not knocking other people for their opinions. If it makes you happy do it.

Everyone has their own little "hot buttons" on how they save or spend money. I met someone on the last trip that flew with two stops instead of one, adding two hours to the trip. He saved $50 over the one-stop flight.

$50 more RT (return) for bus-class? I'd do it without thinking, I hate coach. $50 OW for a 1 hour flight? Maybe I'd think about it. Maybe.

But how is Dew going to feel in September when we go to Phuket and I am in bus class and she is in coach? I can tell her they do not allow girls with tattoos in the good seats.

One more thing - there is no alcohol served on domestic flights, you will get food though, even though it is a short flight.

And food only during designated meal hours. Otherwise just a soft drink or a cafe.

Upgrade to Business class is like paying extra for very little service. Within an hour flight, you would not notice the differences. Unless you have a big fat ass that can't fit in a coach seat, then its not a choice. Save extra money for extra fun. I did both, IMO, $50 will get you a great dinner in a nice restaurant and drinks rather than get reheated food onboard. Short flight business class is no biggy. But may be your sweethearts will want to feel a little bit 'luxurious".

IMHO a complete waste of money.

Any other airline and I would say sure, no problem.

5 years ago Thai decided to stop serving alcoholic drinks to business class domestic to save money. No drop in prices.

The food is a disgrace to Thailand.

The newspapers cost 20 Baht each at a newsstand.

I have found no difference in the seats in Thai business class except most of them are empty. Wonder why?

Agree with black cat 100%.

Focus on the play. If you have money to burn on play, then focus on shopping and eating. If you have more than enough cash for shopping and eating then focus on your hotel. If your hotel is already a 5* then MAYBE consider blowing some money on a < 2hr flight. At least that's my view.
