Oh dear, Noknoi should know better.
Low fares mean efficiently run, no frills airlines that use one type of plane and keep them in the air for as much of the day as possible.
Air Asia has 20 planes and an outstanding safety record; which incidentally Thai Airways does not have.
The low cost airlines tend to be especially careful on saftey issues as one mistake would put them out of business. Air Asia is in the process of completing an Initial Public Offering. The take up from retail and institutional investors suggests that the market has much more faith in these carriers than Noknoi has.
I have flown Air Asia frequently, also Tiger, Orient Thai and Valuair. They are all different; the legroom is pretty cramped (except for Valuair) but they have all been safe.
Book well in advance and travel midweek for the best fares.

Also their prime minster has a big stake in asia air......They are save. And even had $75 seats to singapore.....but its a raffle......They let go 1000 seats in bangkok to chang mai for 100 baht.....basically its a price war, youd be lucky to snag one. Thai airways on the other hand release alot on 1350 baht bases to the north. Trick is get a thai girl to buy it for you. Anything beats the bus, but 2500 is still cheap!

Agree with everyone else. The big airlines spend more on perks for executives and paying large debts incurred by overextending themselves. I've flown Air Asia to Phuket and it was just fine. Can't wait to fly them again!

Just flown with AirAsia. BKK-HKT-BKK. Service is excellent and surprisingly on-time departures.
