Guys, last year I did this tour on a Saturday and one of the highlights was the train journey on a diesel train pulling carriages with open windows and wooden seats etc. It also had fans in the roof and traders would come around selling nuts, Singha etc
This ran from Kanchanaburi for 11/2 hrs towards Burma.
In a couple of weeks I want to go on this tour again but I would like to go on the traditional train and not the small air conditioned one.
Am I correct in saying that the diesel hauled train with about 12 carriages only operates Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday?
FWIW The old one left kanchanaburi about 1315hrs.
It really made the tour travelling on the traditional train and if it means re-scheduling the day I go then that's OK.

I forgot to mention, the train I want to travel on is the Bangkok Hualampong to Nam tok train which I will join at Kanchanaburi about 1315hrs.
I just need to know which days this train operates?

I already did that with one agent but I guess they didn't understand English too well and replied with an incomprehensible answer.
However, I will keep trying with them as I need to book the tour anyway.
I was just hoping that one of the BKK brothers would come up with the answer.
