I now think that I am sneaking an extra week hols with 7 days in Pattaya and I would like to keep the cost down if possible.
Do the air-con express buses go from Morchit to pattaya every 30 mins? I have only been from Ekkamai.
I thought taxi Don Muang to Morchit (150?) Bus to Pattaya (90?)
Flight arrives 4pm so should hit Pattaya 7-30ish, just right for some action.

definitely the cheapest way to do it. if there is no bus at mo chit, take the skytrain to ekkamai.

That is way too high for a taxi to Mor-Chit. Come on bros - help this guy get to Bus Station for less. 150 is about right to Nana hotel.

He might stay on the airport until 7PM and take the shuttle bus to Pattaya. No need to go into town. And 200 baht only (I think).

I won't be hanging around DM for 2 hours waiting for the bus, also I won;t be trauling my baggage Mo chit-Ekkamai.
If it's not on then it's a 1200 taxi to Pattyaya, not the end of the world....by any means.
Is the end of sky train line and bus station same same?
I think buses Mo (r) chit-Pattaya only 1 per hour.

Hello, somehow I reached central bkk on my arrival with the combo Taxi-BTS,the xpense is almost half as a taxi ride and it gives u more "that" feeling,with the skytrain gettin crowded station after station,,,by TG's,the warmest welcome u could get.
on 25 december 2003 I swear once a sick weirdo has jumped in at chitlom with a gas mask, (yes picture that ) believe it or not.
anyway the Mochit bus station is not that near the BTS terminal and not reachable by walk,many times those taxi drivers intentionally mistaken the destination for take the long way and make me pay more,,,110 instead of 100...even if pointed it on a bts ticket (with a huge skytrain and simbol printed on) I kept just for that,they stopped at the bus terminal,,,TIT ! they simply dont understand the word sky-train even with gestures...no way...better direct him to chatujak...but then u goin to the bus station,so u'll have no probs!sorry clueless about the route hours to pattaya from there.

Gus,
I paid B1,500 from the airport to Pattaya on Dec 24th. Went to the taxi window outside too, so don't think I got ripped off, but it sure was alot more than last year. I asked the driver why so much and he said it was because of increased petrol costs. A swedish couple were going to Chinatown and they got hit for B320. I wonder if the taxi window outside is charging more than they should or if the fares simply have gone up.
Another taxi story:
Got a taxi at my hotel to go to the BKK airport and after leaving the hotel, I asked him to turn the meter on. He didn't say anything. So I asked him again to use the meter, and he said no B450 to the airport. I said more firmly, NO, use the meter. He pulled over to the side of Soi 22, went to the back took out my luggage, threw it on the sidewalk, got back in his cab and drove off. Yep, didn't get his number, too shocked. Caught another cab a minute later and no problem with the meter this time. What bullshit. He knew I was trying to catch a plane but he still acted like an idiot. Fortunately this is not the norm.

If you want a taxi driver to understand you when going to a skytrain station say "Rot Faļ Fan satanee" and the name of the station you want to go to. So far this little piece of Thai language has been very usefull to me
