I find the Aiport buses are pretty good - one runs straight to Sukhumvit road, stop is close to Nana BTS

I second the airport bus. 100 baht each way. They are located outside the main entrance of the airport and go to most of the city. Tell them which hotel you are staying at and they will put you on the right bus.

I once took a local bus, cost me about 5B from the airport to Thanon Ratchadamnoen....classic trip...took hors got sweaty, met two very attractive Swedish girls who remained friends for many years.
Just go out the airport and wait at the bus stop outside.
Worth every baht (unless you are in a hurry!!)

The public bus air conditioned goes from the airport to Mo Chit. I forget the number, but its express and doesn't take that long. It cost 15 baht. If you have heavy luggage, getting it up the stairs at Mo Chit might be an issue. You can get bus route information from Thailand tourism in BKK. I realize most visitors would rather take the airport bus or taxi.
