UA has a problem in NRT and they want to overnight everyone there. I think to myself, where would I rather overnight, NRT 60 miles from the middle of nowhere or at a hotel in BKK. In less then a New York minute. I opt for the BKK hotel. UA gave me free transfers and stay to the hotel, three meal vouchers and a 3 minute/30 minute internet usage. I have to send in a post card to UA for further compensation.
I grabbed some sleep and cabbed it over to Mo Chit and was on Soi 7/1 later that day enjoying a free BBQ at the Aussie bar. Waitress offer up stairs massage for 350 including a beer and 500 for a more then decent smoke.
Thanks UA for an extra night in BKK on your nickel.

I hope you don't mind me asking:
how much additional compensation did you get from UA? Bonus miles, $$$...
Last time I mailed in such a card the compensation was no good for travel to LOS even though that's where the problem occured.

I received a coupon good for $100USD and I can use it for domestic travel in the US. I was rebooked on US Air from Seattle to Philly and US Air made a mistake and credited my UA account with 4400 air miles. I was traveling on a frequent flyer ticket.

Looks like the domestic travel limitation seems to be standard for UA. It's a pitty - I could have used my coupon for my next trip to LOS.
Anyone out there with a crystal ball? Where are the prices heading for travel from U.S. to LOS? Right now it seems to be pretty expensive!

International is where UA has the best margins and makes profit. Apparently trips to asia are around 25% of total capacity now! Anyway, us carriers are generally very price competative in the international market (as opposed to domestic where they are getting killed), so I don't expect the rates to drop.
