Hi
Thinking of using U - Tapao airport rather than Bangkok on my forthcoming trip to get to Koh Samui.
Wondered how far this is away from Pattaya and what the cost of a taxi should be to this airport.
How long is it necessary to check in before an internal flight at U - Tapao.

Getting there isn't a real problem its getting a taxi back to Pattaya when you return thats the expensive part. If you can, arrange for your driver to pick you up and get his number so you can call and "remind" him that he is suppose to be picking you up.
Without pre arranged pick-up - you're left to the mercy of the guys waiting out front who from memory will be wanting about 800 baht. Because of its location, number of taxi's waiting at the airport etc, bargaining hard can be "difficult".

There are usually a couple of minivans waiting to take new arrivals from U-tapao to Pattaya and costs about 150/200bht per person. You book/pay this at the counter next to the exit and the guy is usually waiting by the exit anyhow.
