Need some advice on local destinations close to los where I can take the gf and kid (2 years old ).
thougt about angkor wat is there anything else to see and do apart from the temple.

I think he means 'close to LOS' Manuel. Have no worthwhile suggestions myself.. there must be some kid related stuff in places like Singapore and Penang, maybe?
Doesnt the new HK disneyland thing open in a couple of months. IS that 'close' enough?

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for ( and possibly you already know about these places ) - BUT considering that you have a 2 year old with you I suggest :-
- A day at Suan Siam ( Siam Park ). It is quite extensive and a reasonably good Water Park with paddling pools, bathing pools, water slides, etc. along with at least 12 Fun Park rides like Roller Coasters, etc. They also have other interesting things to do like a "Dinotopia" (a sort of Museum of Dinosaurs ) ; a Chinese History Museum and at 4.30 p.m. an enjoyable Country & Western music group. They also have restaurants and food stalls and they rent out swim suits ( for male & for female ) and floats. SO - all in all a great and relaxing day can be spent at not too great a cost.
- Safari World :- Again a great way to spend the whole day. There are 2 sections - the first being an open zoo through which you can drive if you have a car. If you do not have a car, they have regular mini-bus trips. This is a very extensive section with at least 25 different animal species with a great number of each kind.
The second section is where they have the shows - Dolphin Show ; Orang-Otang Show ; Chimpanzee Show ;Water Ski Show ; Elephant Show ; Action ( James Bond ) Show ; Action ( Cowboy ) Show ; etc. + a large number of exotic birds + games of skill + restaurants + food stalls ; etc.
Both the above would be ideal for the 2 year old and my guess is that you and your Thai GF might enjoy it as much.
- Muang Buran & Crocodile Farm, Samut Prakhan :- If you would like to see replicas of most of the famous monuments from all over Thailand without leaving Bangkok then a visit to Muang Buran in Samut Prakhan is a must.
You could combine this with a visit to the famous Crocodile Farm near-by.
HOWEVER - this particular trip may be a bit tedious for the 2 year old.

ummm, Samutprakarn is OUTSIDE BKK, it's another Province from BKK completely
but to be fair it is still in the 02- area code and is considered suburbs of BKK (Parimton), like where I am typing this from (and no, not Samutprakarn)
