Hi guys just to let you know if you are travelling to Cambodia, get your Visa done in Aus, rather simple and quick.

Look up the Cambodian Embassy web site all the info is there.

The beauty of getting your visa in Aus is its a five working day turn around and get this they issue a 3 month visa.

Second, you dont have to put up with the slow customs and visa at Phnom Penh airport.

Just grab your bags flash your visa and out you go !

I would say this would go for other Cambodian embassy`s in other countries.

Total cost for me with postage / visa $ 50.00 aud.

I have been sending mine to Washington DC and it is very easy. Sure beats the airport lines.

Thats why I have been doing this, those lines can take forever if the plane is full to clear customs and visa.

Slow is not the word. I can't even figure out what they are doing. Seems they just slowly pass it down the line looking like they are doing something.

Did notice last time they had gone a bit high tech and now take your photo with a little thing like a net cam. Don't remember that a back in 2003 but could have missed it.

Here is my experience from the last time I entered Cambodia. Rather than a Poi Pet, I entered via Chaom, its a border crossing with Thailand I think in Si Sa ket. To get to the crossing was 16 km on a pretty rough dirt road. I get there then got checked out of Thailand and went to the Cambodia side.

First some Army guys or something that were lazing around in hamocks looked at my passport. They then sent me to the visa guy. The visa guy and I sat out side f a little grass shack on a picnic bench and all around were thousands of big black butterflies. After the 16 km on the dirt road it was real nice there. He did up the visa, I paid my $20 US and got myself stamped in, then carried on to Anlong Veng.

The next time though I'll get a visa from the Embassy here prior to getting to the border.

Last time I was there I did not have a passport picture, they asked me for 5 USD, I assumed they would take a picture and file it with my visa application. They kept the 5 USD, did not take my picture and issued my visa.

There were about 50 people in the same situation as me, some customs officials are pocketing a lot of 5's
