I was just wondering if anyone who has taken the new direct flight from NYC to BKK on Thai Air can tell me if I can plug in my computer with its standard cable or if I need a special adapter for the airplane? My understanding that all seats have power availible.

Side seats have one outlet for every two seats. Bring a 3-1 outlet splitter just in case your seatmate has a computer too.

I've used the flight twice so far in each direction. On not one single occasion did the power outlet in my business class seat actually work. Complaints were met as are all compaints to TG, with a shrug and the quick disappearance of whoever you complain to.
