NWA still running decent RT deals from several cities in the U.S.. I checked ATL-BKK leaving on a Thursday and returning on a Thursday was $776 RT. Sat-Sat was a little more at $826. Found the following on a consumer action site which explains the continued good fares on NWA.
Travel round-trip to Bangkok with American/JAL for just $600 on Sept. 29-Oct. 31 departures. Travel Mon.-Thurs. or add $20 per direction. Northwest Airlines matches. Stay 6-30 days. Purchase by Sept. 9.
I have not checked the American or JAL sites for these fares but check it out. With taxes most likely closer to $700 but still not a bad fare.
With 20K miles, flights to BKK are as low as $460. Unfortunately, for those attempting to maintain elite NW status, there will be no miles awarded for these flights.
