I could be wrong, but I've never seen a bus that goes straight from Ekamai to Bahn Pae if I were going by bus, I'd go from Mor Chit to Rayong bus terminal (2-1/2 hours), then figure out transportation from there to Bahn Pae Bahn Pae (where the pier is) is quite far from Suk. Road, so you'd need to hire a Song Taaw to take you out to the pier the busses start really early, about 4am, but since the boats don't start going out until 8am, no need to get into a hurry I know (about the boats), cause I'm going tomorrow

Hmmm... don't think so, Local. Monday on my way to Pattaya, I saw a special booth for 'Koh Samed' at Ekamai. It was in front of the 'Pattaya' booth.

100% certain there are regular busses from Ekkamai to Ban Phe. Taken it many times. If my memory serves me right, the first one goes at about 6am (but it might be earlier), and they go every hour. No idea when the last one is. When you take the bus, I suggest you post the schedule here for other members to benefit from! You can buy the RT ferry ticket to Koh Samed on the bus, but it is better to just walk across the road from the bus terminal and get the boat ticket there one-way. The reason is that it is possible that the boat you will take from Koh Samed to Ban Phe will NOT be the same company, so they will not honor the ticket. Plus, you might want to take a speedboat back and they won't nhonor the ticket either. I can't explain it all correctly, just walk across the road to the ferry and buy a one-way boat ticket there. The bus to Ban Phe doesn't have an official stop at Rayong or Pattaya, although it does seems to stop occasionally to let people on. Returning to BKK, they leave Ban Phe every hour on the hour (and possibly a few extra ones thrown in at busy times). Returning always seemed to take longer because they are constantly stopping to pick people up and drop them off on the afternoon runs Ban Phe to BKK. Finally, if you've got an extra 2000 baht sitting around, you could take a taxi to/from and shave an hour off the trip. Here is a FR about me going to Samui when I was young and dumb and having fun. There is some transport info in it. http://bkkx.com/cgi-bin/forum/topic.cgi?forum=10&topic=214&start=0

ok, ok, yes, there is a bus to Bahn Pae from Ekamai I saw the bus station on Sunday evening, when we arrived back to Bahn Pae from Samet and we arrived back with a different company than the one we took out, like CG explains above, sometimes you might come back a diff. way than you went out they did honor our return tickets, and charge only an additional 20b to be picked up at Wong Deuan vs. the regular pick up North of Sai Gaaw another 10b each for the little boat that took us out to the bigger boat, LOL and then another 15b by Song Taaw (Baht bus) to get back from NuanThip pier to the pier we were parked at if you're going to a beach other than Sai Gaaw, I would recommend taking a boat that will drop you at or near that beach, then you don't need to worry about the 200b park entrance fee there are SEVERAL diff. piers to launch from, and most have a sign on the main road announcing which beaches they go to if you want secluded, I can recommend Ao Wai in the South, also Ao Saang Tien isn't bad don't forget to get a look at the sun setting on the West side of the island if you're with your significant other ;-}
