Just checked my regular mid-december flights with China Airlines.
ALL flights appear to be blacked out, implying they are fully booked. It's just to Bangkok (out of LAX). Similar flights to HK are at least half available (so it looks like I might be flying via HK or Singapore, then).
Still, if all flights are that full destined for BKK, could the holiday season in BKK be packed?

Right, as opposed to $780 before December 10th -- what I hate about that is not spending the money, it's spending more money for a flight that should cost less, when I would prefer to blow the money in Thailand directly 
BK, yep, I'm eyeing the motor expo - hopefully.
Still a bunch of variables in play.

yep by delaying my booking by 24hrs it cost me another £300
the planes are fairly full but EVA air is the best deal from uk (today anyway)

Last roundtrip minute/day/within a week China Air online bookings LAX-BKK throughout Dec 09 go through into pricing and credit card submittal.... makes me want to escape the Slave Pit !
DD you could leave Dec 5th Sat from LAX for 1000 since time of Fri morn checking
Prices are actually good for econ 780-1000 depending on latest flights out !
Try China Air again... they periodically update their server for travel cancelations bookings and you get null or blacked out data back
as you know China Air is the Asia bound public bus ! weekends are packed...best time is Mon-Thur for best econ seats... frequent flyers can get bumped in to business class often

I have plenty of miles for a Business Class bump, if it came to that, but I can't leave until after the 15th to the 18th, at the earliest (missing the Motor Show --- AGAIN!), due to a bunch of projects I want to complete before the end of the year.
Yeah, I could goof off, and shove it off into next year (tempting), but would rather just get stuff completed, and have more money to spend on fun.
Thanks for the suggestions, everyone & SG - I'll keep checking the CI site.

Of course, nowhere did I say that the Motorshow was my only reason to fly out to BKK - I am mainly interested in studying Thai culture and learning more about Buddhism.
I mean, isn't that what every male traveling to Thailand does?
