I finally purchased my tix to LOS today after keeping tabs on United (I have high status) prices for the past few weeks. If you're planning on traveling in September, you should be able to find LAX-BKK airfare for $730 - down $100 from previous pricing. This listing came up on both Expedia and Orbitz. Not the cheapest ticket to LOS but still pretty competitive in case you're like me and have a strong preference to rack up some more mileage on UAL...

I recently got a Korean Air ticket for about $550 from LAX - BKK, but don't know if they still have seats at these fares. Korean Air is just as good (maybe better) as the US carriers and I get mileage on Delta frequent flier club.

Yeah, I've seen tickets in the $500-600 range for LAX-BKK in September for the past few weeks. Just thought I would post a heads up for anyone who might be interested in United dropping its price by $100. Like I said: not the cheapest but the incentives for me to fly United make up for the higher price.

You can almost always get a $650 price on Thai Airways from EconoTravel LA. Thai is Star Alliance so you can rack up United miles and get all of your premium benefits. All Thai economy seats have same pitch as United Economy Plus seats.

Padawan - Yeah I grabbed some tickets when I noticed the price dropping as well. Mine were $760.00 on UAL from East Coast USA for a Feb trip which is not too bad considering I can count 100% of the miles towards the Mileage Plus program. I usually fly ANA as I get a direct flight from the East Coast to Narita instead of a layover in San Fran or LAX. But these tickets were about 100 USD less than I could get on ANA and I get to count all the miles instead of only 70%. The flight times were perfect and the layovers relatively short so I felt compelled to buy em'.

I always take an evening flight from LAX, however I have no problem with sleeping on planes. You will usually find me on Cathay Pacific so I can keep getting my American miles, but I've also gone on EVA. The Cathay flight lands at about 10:30 in the morning, and I'm at my hotel before noon. I think it adds almost a full day to your trip.

Kaaophat, Phone 800 255-1688 or 877 484-2811 or 323 964-5550 ask for Donna. I always use them for Thai Airways and get great service and price.
