Related to the getting sick from the food, just thought I would mention that before I left for Thailand I started the series of 5 Hep A & B vaccine injections. Got A & B on 12/16, back on 1/16 for B, then back again on 6/16 for A & B again. Anybody else do this? I think it is a good idea, so does my doctor. Read somewhere that the majority of people in developing countries carry the Hep virus. Me thinks me read it. Full of shit? Let me know.
Also, what other vaccines are recommended for expats living in Thailand, especially if may go up country periodically?

Yeah, I did it too, although as I recall it was only a set of 3 shots and not 5.
I travel a lot, so I did all the shots that the travel nurse suggested. Even have my Yellow Fever proof of shot attached to my passport (have done Africa twice in the last 3 years).

Recommended Hep A & B are now 5 shots, and I believe is then lifetime protection. Good insurance I think.
Besides yellow fever and Hep, what others did you get. I go to cambodia once in a while and went out in the countryside twice and so want to be safe as possible.

Had the combined shot a couple of years ago. Second shot after a week, third after a month and final after a year.

In addition to the ones that I mentioned, these are the ones that I remember:
Typhoid
Tetanus/Diptheria
Polio
Japanese Encephalitis
Annual Flu shot
Typhoid and Tetanus/Diptheria are obvious ones to get.
My doctor said that Polio is back out in the wild in Africa and other places and that it is a good idea to get a booster even if you got a Polio shot as a kid. The Japanese Encephalitis is an expensive set of shots, and it is very rare. However, if you catch it you die - no treatment possible once you get it.
Not a bad idea to get Smallpox and Measles if you never got exposed as a kid.
