I originally replied in another thread with this question, I was momentarily restricted from starting a new thread. So, Has anyone used the Positron Emission Tomography, or P.E.T. scan at Bangkok Hospital? It is usually combined with a C.T. scan to give possibly the most complete assesment of cardiac/neuro/cancerous conditions. If so, how much was it? What did you get out of it? Any other Hospitals have this equipment? Thanks, Jim

Bumrungrad is probably (IMHO) the best Thai Hospital & runs to International standards, Its list of Imaging is below:- IMAGING • Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) All Bumrungrad International Images are digital (no film) promoting high quality interpretation, fast service and availability to all clinicians • Complete Radiology & Flouroscopy Services • Advanced Color Flow Ultrasound • Nuclear Medicine (Whole Body & Cardiac) • Special Digital Peripheral Vascular Imaging • Mammography with Sterotactic Biopsy Capability • 1.5 Tesla New Generation Magnetic Resonance Imaging • Hi-Speed Spiral CT Scanning • Maxillofacial Panorex Imaging • Kidney Lithotripsy No PET but it could be listed under a different name!

I had a brain MRI performed during my last trip (a month of so ago) at Bumrungrad - total cost was around $260 or so, and came with an evaluation from the neurologist (good news, I *have* a brain - thus dispelling the assumptions of several forum members). Why'd I need one? Aside from wanting a proactive brain scan, but I wanted an MRI of my brain slices as the desktop picture on my MacBook Pro... Yep, when medical procedures are reasonably priced, you can afford to have fun with medicine.

^ Nice idea, Daffy! I'd like to see that... any chance you'd post them to Flickr or the like? And, are the scans in color, or B & W?

I had a stomach MRI done at Bumrurgrad last week, total cost including the followup doctors visit was 25,320 baht. I was told it would take 1.5 hours, it took 2 hours 20 minutes. I was required to make a deposit of 24,000 Baht when I appeared for my appointment and was advised I may get a partial refund- no such luck I ended up paying more. Cost breakdown- radiologists fee 4,320 baht, MRI 16,680 baht, facility 110 baht, doctor's fee 500 baht, medicine 3,300 baht, medical supplies 410 baht
