Do you know anybody who had cervical cancer? Is the operation safe? Survival rate? Long time implication? Total medical expenses? I know this former BG who has been diagnosized with cervical cancer. She has stopped working as BG two years ago. She has a decent paying job now. According to her, a lots of BGs are diagnosized with cervical cancer. I also found references that indicated sex workers are in high risk group for cervical cancer. Your thoughts and comments.

Onera, In 2006, a professor/doctor in Queensland Australia was awarded the 'Australian of the year' award by his peers and presented to him by the Oz PM. for his lifes work into cervical cancer. He made a major world breakthrough into the treatment of this terrible disease and or the prevention of it. The only suggestion I could make to you, is get onto google or yahoo and do a search into where this marvellous person has his research centre and go from there. I found the following and may help you, from Wikipedia, copy & paste, I'm not this smart. Ian Frazer (born January 6, 1953) is an Australian immunologist, best known for his work on the development of a cervical cancer vaccine, which works by protecting women from Human papillomavirus (HPV). In January 2006 he was named Australian of the Year.[1] Frazer was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Frazer trained as a physician in Edinburgh, specialising in immunology. He emigrated to Melbourne in 1980 to research viral immunology and moved to Queensland in 1985 where he currently heads the University of Queensland Centre for Immunology and Cancer Research at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. In 2005 Frazer and his research groups undertook clinical study of a vaccine against human papillomavirus, which was 100% effective in preventing common cervical cancers caused by the virus. The drug is named Gardasil and has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and has been approved for use in the European Union. Ian Frazer personally administered the first publicly available injection of the vaccine in Australia in August 2006.[2] He is also involved in a large clinical trial taking place in Australia and China of a therapeutic vaccine against genital warts.[3]

barrafish: Thanks for the info. I know some research is going on now about different vaccines and also there is a vaccine approved by the FDA (US Federal Drug Administration) for preventing HPV that is supposed to be the main cause of cervical cancer. In the USA, in future the States may mandate the vaccine for every teen age school girl. Though there is substantial christian group opposition is there. The vaccine is to prevent cervical cancer. However, I am more interested in somebody in Thailand who has successfully got it treated. Thanks

Unless I am missing something, the definitive treatment for cervical cancer is a hysterectomy.

Yes, I have a particular interest in her. She informed me about this when I was in BKK in last December. She had been to the Doctor a couple of times. She will undergo surgery (I don't know how invasive it will be) in March. No, she has not asked me for any money yet (who knows the future). She has a decent job in BKK and around 60K B in her savings account. She was a BG. She says she has enough money for hospital expenses. She uses one of my business employee credit card and I have set limit to 5K B every month.

Just in case you were not aware, HPV is transmitted by men. In fact, this is its common vector, from one woman to another. A dude f***s one infected girl, uncovered, of course, then he f***s another. Virus shared. Depending on the viral strain, there may or may not be visible lesions on the male genetalia. In most cases, the men are asymptomatic, and display no symptoms. So. Men may not develop cervical cancer, but women get HPV from us. The bottom line: wrap it up.

I had a friend who was diagnosed with cervical cancer years ago. She worked as a respiratory therapist at Stanford Medical Center. She didn't have a hysterectomy. Instead, they inserted radioactive rods into her pussy and positioned them so the irradiated the area that was cancerous. From what I recall, they left her like that for a day or so, then repeated the treatment. Not sure if she had chemotherapy too. She survived and is now married with some kids. Cervical cancer spreads quickly and can kill quickly too. So it does require attention. - Balls

Interesting that once again the deseases of the female gain the most publicity ( and funding) They already out live as by 10 years,,, what about prostrate cancer, testicular cancer ( ignored because it's a male problem?) Perhaps some should try living in Australia,, the single MOST under funded and ignored group is the white Australian male, yes a sad but true fact. More money is currently being spent by our federal government to supply petrol that is non satifying to SNIFF, for our Aboriginals than is being spent on research into prostate cancer !!! WTF. Let them sniff I say,, add something that will DEFINATELY shorten their existance. Surely funding needs to be prioritised on a "needs" basis and males live on average 10 years less,,, ok, lets see the MONEY,, show me the MONEY!!! HPV is transmitted by men,, what a crock of crap,, its trasmitted by women having unprotected sex with men !!! OHHH I don't feel so guilty now that the truth is out,but I must add that surely both parties are responsible for the risk they take if having unprotected sex? It would seem to me that feminist ( dare I say Lesbian) Nazists are having an increasingly huge influence on world wide health spending too the detriment of the Mal species. think about it,, study the facts.
