So there will be a smoking ban in LOS, is it?
    
When they instituted this in the UK last summer there were dire warnings of death and devastation to occur in its wake. I am happy to report however that the smoking ban is being upheld and the smokers are still drinking in the Pubs, they just go and stand in the rain if the need for a smoke becomes too bad...

If it implemented in LOS, there'll be no longer any need to ask 'do you smoke?'.

Well, LOS is more and more like Europe, cameras on the Highway 1 and 2 to Isan, you don't only get a ticket,but also penalty points (same f*cking system like in Europe) and now ban on smoking 
The law is also enforced in Germany (well that is what they do best) the owners of my favourite restaurants ans bars have to shoulder a loss in turnover of up to 30%. Now some interest groups  are starting to boycott it and to fight in court against it as unconstitutional...

Good luck on them fighting it. The EU has already ruled that not only is it in accordance with the 'Charter Agreement' (read that as EU Constitution) but it is against the EU Human Rights Law not to have a smoking ban in place.
That is why the UK government finally gave in a put one in place. When it first happened several bars and pubs decided to pay the fines for their customers. One owner even said he would go to jail before he banned smoking in his club. No problem for HMG they just pulled their operating licenses and the clubs are now closed.
May I suggest a nicotine patch cuz soon the only place you will be able to smoke is on your back porch  ...

I have a small bar/restaurant in Udon Thani, N/E Thailand and a 40 cig a day smoker.
This is shocking news. A person come's into the bar, has a drink and smoke's...now they can only have a drink in the bar. So he or she must go outside to have a cig.
Shocking as, why did'nt they do this a long time ago. I welcome it with open arm's.
The 2 room's (bar & restaurant) are insulated and air-con. I have walked into the bar when all the door's are closed and air-con on and the filthy, stinking cigarette smoke lingering and the exhaust fan's buzzing away trying to clear the haze. It's a wonder the staff have not asked me for breathing apparatus as a health issue.
Imagine the people who are not smokers. They come in for a drink and or a meal and they have to put up with the smoke. They could dine and drink somewhere else, but I certainly do not want that.
So Monday 11 Feb will be a blessing for me and the non-smokers. If I lose smoking customers, so be it, but they will be replaced by the non-smokers.
