Some good exercise always helps. That's what the TGs are for.

BK,

an hour, 4 miles, everyday...I swear....everyday day is a one hour ritual....but no go man....I am down to 193 from 210 though...6 feet tall.....so thats good but no help on the sleep part....

I swear if I miss a day of exercise then it is 2 hours the next day, no joke at all...

But, I cant get beat this....on the phone today my doc asked if I was under stress, but I really have none...

I hear the birds chirping outside and I am wide awake and it has been like this since my ambien prescription ran out 2 weeks ago....

They say it is non-addictive, but I promise the people that sanctioned that have never met someone with my personality disorder.....

I wanted to try an go without it, but arrg the morning news is about to come on....

alt, just in case you thought about a 'natural' approach, save your time and money

I've tried the most expensive and hyped health store supplements, totally worthless

Maybe somewhat related although I don't have insomnia, is the incredibly vivid dreams I have in LOS, (usually not sexual, I've got that for real), I've woken up many times in a heart pounding sweat

be carfeul with zolpidem. I can honestly say I am addicted and take multiple prescriptions monthly. One 10 mg pill is no tenough.

One day I will get this demon off my back, I have gone several weeks without it before, but I always venture back to the pills. My only substitute is Nyqual. But that has it's own problems. If I tak enothing, I will lay in bed all night and not sleep at all. Horrible trade off, but the nights sleep is worth the pill.

After multiple back surgeries, I was using Ambiem as well. Sure, it gets you to sleep however A) it is addictive and B) it interferes with deep sleep patterns. I might get 4-5 hours but never felt right. Also done the lunesta, etc... all seem to do what they claim but I never got the feeling of a true, restful sleep.

There are many chemical approaches beyond the basic sleep aids. After talking to my doc about the sleep issue and my back, they suggested I try nortriptolene which is an old style anti-depressent. As it was explained, it is not like prozac or SSRI meds and is off-labeled usage for sleep disorders.

I have used this with good results. Granted, it is a script so you run into similar issues but I found it (overall) better than Ambiem or Lunesta for good sleep.

Generally insomnia has underlying issues so trying to identify them might be helpful as well. I stopped caffeine post 3 pm and found it much easier to sleep at night as well. Mind you a vicodin followed with a of wine helps as well. Too bad you're not here otherwise I could set you up with that

Cheers guys,

and Jinjo.....dont worry mate, I have tried the MJ thing so much it's a wonder I am not blind LOL!

There is a sleep disorder center at a hospital in my area...apparently that trys an approach that is more mind oriented, I suppose in an attempt to identify if its in your "head".....

maybe I will check it out, but it got so bad last night I went and bought Tylonol PM at 5:30 am just to get a few hours in

will check back in soon...

... (they) have never met someone with my personality disorder...

New personality disorder unknown to science? Fascinating! Please tell us more.

Fortunately, I have very little to add to this topic. I only have problems sleeping for a couple of days after having flown around the world (and not always) and maybe an odd day every few years.

However, I have tried Xanax to help myself sleep in long haul flights, and have found it to work. Although I know it is not used for insomnia treatment.

I do believe that it can be hereditary the predisposition for easy/difficult sleep. My father has the good fortune of being able to fall sleep at will any time any place. For example, he would be bored in a room waiting to see a doctor and go like "Until the doctor comes, I am going to take a 5-10 minutes nap" and in 5 seconds he would be sleeping. Over the years, the selection of time and places where he has chosen to fall sleep have at some times provided entertainment for the people around him.

Good luck!
