a condom breaks and the the chance to get HIV is nil ?
That's total bullshit and very dangerous to propagate such myths. The condom may break without you noticing and then continue to have sex for another half an hour for example. The risk is definitely not nil
Vaginal fluids mixed with blood ? A Very very dangerous
situation.Any other co-existent vaginal infection / conditionincreases the risk many-fold.
If you are tested 3 months after exposure you are probably OK as in most cases antibodies develop within this interval. To be 100% sure repeat the test in 6 months time after exposure. And never wear only one condom again...

also..
If a hospital asks for a passport tell them you forgot it but you have all the details written.Of course give them false details. Most of them dont really care
If tested positive ? Yes they will relay all your info to the health authorities.Good chance you wiil be refused entry/visa next time (permanently)

By chance I came across this news, advertising the HV7 rapid test kit in Malaysia. Apparently this or something similar is used as well in India.
And if it does not take only 3 to 5 minutes as described in the article, it may be 10 to 20 minutes. Still pretty quick. (And still we all know about the time to develop antibodies etc.)
This is new for me as well and it sounds serious. Until now I only knew about the HIV checks taking a day or to as some sort of laboratory was involved.

With the introduction of the "HV7 Rapid Test Kit", anyone can do a screening for HIV antibodies by himself or herself, just like using a home pregnancy test kit, and obtain a 99.8% accurate result in just three to five minutes.
Developed by TH Koid Foundation, based in Bandar Utama, the product, which is touted to be safe, reliable, and highly sensitive, will be launched by Health Minister Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek today.
The introductory price of the product, which has been tested by six local hospitals, the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) this year, and a Singapore-based hospital is RM57.

I think it was published end of November 2004.
There was another thread about this short ago, but I cannot find it any more.

Gents,
I hope this is a suitable thread for this post to ask a little advice.
I am considering an extended trip to LOS. On the shorter tours I have managed to resist bare back action with my regular P4P girl.
Each time it gets harder (pardon the pun). Last tour we both got pretty out of control one night and I found myself eating at the 'Y', something I said I would never do - was very nice though.
It's obvious I have lost my self control with this one - another worry.
For the extended trip I'm wondering if I can get her HIV tested before I get there? She's always insisted on condoms for sex, and it took three tours & a lot of convincing for a BBBJ (but I've gotta tell her when I'm gonna pop - takes it on the tits, won't swallow - says I'm the only one no condom - LOL).

I'm guessing she is most likely 'clean' & she will want me to test too before bare back & swallow, which is ok.

This might be naive, but the thought is I will take her off the market for the appropriate time before I get into town so I can rely on the test - I know her mamasan quite well, and a few locals so I think this can be arranged with some confidence.

Gents, does anyone know the approximate test cost & logistics. I'm thinking two weeks out of the P4P game, I arrive, PCR test for two, results by ????, then bareback fun.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks in Advance.
Liam

As I understand it, it could take six months or more for HIV to be diagnosed or detected in the screening process. If this is correct, you would need your lady friend to be off the market and tested for much more than 2 weeks. Eating at the 'y' has a very low probablility for passing infection as I understand it.

If you really want ot remain safe and have peace of mind, it looks like you need to wear the raincoat.

modern tests are sensitive enough to detect within a month unless you get an rna test which would be immediate

It is dead easy to go and get an anonymous HIV test in Thailand. I have done it twice at Bumrungrad prior to taking HIV tests for other reasons. If I had HIV I wanted to be the first to know. Simply go into Bumrungrad and give a false name and address. They dont ever ask for a passport. Why would they?

I would also warn you that nowadays they seem to automatically test your blood for HIV if you have some illness. On 2 occasions in the last 5 years I have been to see the doctor with an illness and they have handed me a piece of paper asking permission to do a whole load of tests including an HIV scan. I guess you can refuse but it is a bit childish.

When I was last in Bumrungrad they basically performed every known test including CRT and MRI scans. I am sure they do it for the money but it is all so amazingly cheap.

I must say I quite like the idea of the self diagnosis tests such as...

...they are not approved by the FDA but then again the CDC and the US government are very keen to register all HIV positive patients. That is why the CDC stats on HIV make such interesting reading.

As opposed to the UK where it costs free.
