Bumrungrad Hospital, soi 3 Sukhumvit, Wattana fixes problem.

On Tuesday I made an appoitment to see Doctor of Physio at the above hospital.

Attended hospital and had interview with the Dr and she is Thai and US trained. Told her that it was only muscular and she performed the examination and also came up with the same conclusion. The muscles on R side of neck and shoulder had stretched and when they knitted back, they ended up in a ball.

Her suggestion was physio but also she could stick me with a dry needle into the trigger points of the muscle which has an immediate effect. After that have physio. So I thought about it and the idea of a large needle inserted directly into the knotted muscle should have the desired outcome. Onto the bed I crawl and she did some massage and found the exact position of the trigger points.

Out come the needle, oh well here goes. The first stick just missed the spot, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th needle was spot on. Directly into the knotted ball, but with the pain came relief, I am not into pain but this felt good. It certainly made the legs and shoulder go into spasm's but have been through a similar treatment before so knew it was doing me good.

After about 5 minutes with the needle, she massaged the area, stretching the muscles, proding with fingers etc. Her nurse in the meantime was able to secure an appoitment with physio lady just across the hallway so over to her and she did the physio for about 1 hr using fingers then the heat treatment on the neck.

The Dr had told me the needle pain would last 24 hrs. I woke up this morning and feel great. Back for more physio later today.

Cost for Doctor 1400b.
Cost for physio 800b.

I can highly recommend this place for this type of problem. Thanks to members for your suggestions.

Paddy mate,

I will do that just for you, hahaa. Some of those nurses are pretty hot, might have to fake some pain so I have the excuse to go back.

Miss Y in physio is a possible target. Just see how it goes, and I think she may like girls as well after speaking with her. Out comes the cunning nature of the beast 55555.

Looks like this topic might pertain to my problem as well. Generally come to LOS twice a year for 3 months a stay. Will be arriving shortly and have had some back problems that won't be ironed out prior to flight. Have been undergoing physical therapy (with traction--love it) and some cortisone injections into L4/L5 area. Have an MRI showing no disk issues, but have have pinched nerve due to pelvis rotation. Need ongoing physical therapy (I assume this is what you are calling phsiotherapy). Have gone to Bumlungrad other times with different issues, but I am seeking advice--which department and/or doctor (am looking for reference to a good one) can I work with, can they read my MRI's (I have copy) ? Do I go to the "physio" department, orthopedics, or maybe radiology (to read MRI's). Any suggetions would be appreciated.

Also, I have searched for info on specific meds I use for pain to no avail. I use the generic of Ultram, called Tramadol. It is controlled here. I will certainly ask at Bumlungrad, but is it available or controlled in BKK? Vicodin does not really work well on me unless I use ES and combine it with a additional NSAID's like Toradol, so it is really not an alternative, nor are muscle relaxants (don't work).

Any response would be helpful?

wittleus,

Have a look under
http://www.bumrungrad.com

Their site is a bit slow, but you can email them for information on costs for treatment and what sort of Dr's are available. I phoned them and told them my problem and they directed my call to the physio dept. My best advice would be to visit them when you arrive.

They are internationally accredited, so bring with you all your X-Rays and medical reports. As you are aware, this is not a country hospital, it is indeed world class and the Dr's I have spoken with are Thai, US, Australian, Japan and UK trained.

Sorry mate cannot help you on medicines that are available for your situation, just drop an email.

Hi wittleus. A few years ago I broke my back and the Doc stuck me on Diazepam. Worked really well for me. As it is a drug used for many things you might find if you take it that you feel stonned. Took away most of the pain I had and relaxed me that much I didnt care about the rest. Take a look at this site it will explain it better than I can. Good luck.

The only problem ? with Diazepan ( VALIUM ) is it can be seriously addictive to some people,,, but it is wonderful stuff. An excellent muscle relaxant.

Brocher
After a soccer injury (to my back) I was on traction for 10 days whilst the medicos were tryin' to get some feelin' back to my feet!

Some muscle relaxants, Valium to relax me, Timazipam to help me sleep and DF118s for the pain meant that I was asleep (or as good as!) for about 18 hours a day.

Everythin' healed up and there was no disc damage but my sacroiliac joint had moved so that my left leg was slightly longer than the other one! This twistin' resulted in continued pain and discomfort and the lack of sensation in my feet.

After leavin' the hospital I was weaned off the drugs but continued with the psysio' and started a course of treatment with a chiropractor for 2 months, didn't help at all!

I started doin' yoga, went to the local gym for weight training and became more mindful of my posture, how I got out of bed etc. Within a week I got most of the feelin' back to my feet and although I am careful (after 20 years!) I have not too many problems now.

Dunno if any of the foregoin' helps you but....

Cheerio
PS: BTW, be careful of the painkillers, muscle relaxants etc., I was bunged up for the 10 days!

Thanks for the suggestions (you and others). Maybe diazepam (valium). It did work on me years and years ago, but that was depression (I was stupid then, over a girl, and not a Thai girl at that). My one problem is that I am extremely drug resistant and luckily because of either blood chemistry/mental makeup, non-addictive. About ten years ago, did Vicodin ES and Toradol (NSAID) about 6 pills a day for a year because of excruciting back problems (fixed by surgery). The day the pain ending stopped taking pills, no withdrawal at all.

Brocher, understand what you mean about constipation with pain killers, strangely enough the prescription ones don't do it to me, but IBUPROPHEN, taken in large doses dries the turds up so either you can't get them out or it hurts like hell. Indeed, stool softeners are needed. Anyway, thanks to all for suggestions.
