chilli, sorry, I can't remember that. I do know, that I have not paid more than 2,000 B on each visit, and that was when I had a root canal done on my molar.

i went to the "Teeth R Us" dentist located in the line of shops along the ambassador hotel beer garden at soy 12ish. great work, great prices, nice dentist - laughs at everything. did the work on the spot. i had a bridge put in for 27,000 Baht = 643 USD that they quoted me as costing $5000.00 in the states. he also did some cosmetic veneer, patched a hole, lazer whitening. great work for me, and the other frarangs in the waiting chairs said the same. his office is small and funky, but his work is good and pleasant to visit. oh, cash only

What an informative thread! I'll be arriving on Tuesday in BKK, and only a few days ago one of my teeth decided to become a trouble maker. My home dentist could only fix it temporarily, so I might be in need of a BKK dentist soon. The list given in this thread sounds good, and I might decide to have a complete checkup and make-over in BKK. Only thing that remains to check is if my health insurance will cover the cost - they should actually, in their own interest...

I would concur about Asavanant (soi Thonglor Suk 55) - excellent service and ludicrously inexpensive

I am travelling to BKK to get dental treatment in July. Avasanant looks favourite at the moment but I'm worried about the quality of the work. I appreciate the price is a lot cheaper than in the West but would I be better advised to go to Bumrungrad Hospital to ensure quality. Has anyone got any bad stories to tell after visiting Avasanant? I'm having 2 bridges & veneers.

Evidence that this is a great forum - I've figured out where I can get my teeth fixed during the day, and then where I can party at night! Very good thread - gave me exactly the info I needed. Thanks guys!

I went to Bumrungrad today. Checkup, cleaning and 2 fillings. It was 2000 baht. The 2 fillings were just replacing old fillings that were screwed up and old. I wasn't overly impressed with the dentist or the office. I think it would be a good place to go for a specific problem. But just for a checkup, etc., I think I'll wait until my next trip to the usa for that.

Cosmetic dentistry is available in many places in bkk. Bamrungrad is of course an option, as it is generally accepted as the best hospital in SE Asia, but the prices-although cheap when compared with USA or Europe- reflect this. Another tact would be to get your girl to buy one of the fashion mags like Ying or Dishan, where there are various adverts for this service. Or try the good ol' Yellow Pages. With regard to TeethRUs near Ambassador, I cannot agree with previous writers, inasmuch as I had minor dental work there, and on settling the bill, the dentist "did me a deal" much in the same style as the Indian tailors, and then proceeded to charge me three time the cost of the same service in other local dentists. For standard dental work, I would suggest the dentist in Suk 9 (I think) about 30 metres in from Suk.

So I assume this is real close to the Nana Hotel? I have to get my teeth cleaned every 4 months, and I don't want my dentist charging me 80 USD for just running a dental scraper along my gums for 15 minutes. I'll let my insurance pay him, while I have the dentist in Bangkok get the baht.
Quote: from aurum on 5:06 pm on Nov. 19, 2002 since a recommendation of this sort is kind of sensitive, I have received healthcare twice in los, first time in a normal hospital, excellent treatment but poor enviroment, which I didnt care about, second time at Bumrungrad Hospital, and that is the place I would recommend, highest standard, international approved and still very reasonable priced, but they attract the best doctors available, and they have a perfect dental section.
