BTW, googling found this about Cromwell hospital:

Non invasive CT colonography have been around for few years. As CT techonology get better, it is starting getting traction in the medical community. This techonology should be available in most major hospital or radiology center.

I've had a flexible sigmoidoscopy done which is similar to the colonoscopy, except they don't look as far into the guts. This procedure is not carried out under sedation and is fine - it makes you feel a bit bloated that's all. I had a couple of nice lady nurses with me - one chatting to me throughout. It was fascinating to be awake throughout and to see the pictures on the tv monitor as the camera travelled up my colon.
The doc took the camera up my colon as far as the top of the colon where it turns left. Which is as far as he said he wanted to look.

As others have said, it was routine. There was no pain. Even when several biopsies were taken.
But after all that - sorry I have no info on how much this costs in LOS. My procedure was carried out in the UK for free for on the NHS.
