I smoke cigars, but always worry about the drunk sitting next to me in the GoGo Bar burning a hole in my shirt. So I was enjoying the smoke-free atmosphere in Long Gun last night until two girls on stage started smoking with their pussys. Both with two cigaretttes at a time, puffing up a cloud, but nobody complained.

According to my better half, Thai TV News reported that smoking outside of public buildings will be banned effectively 1st of June. In other words, those of us who head out the front of our office towers to take a drag, can't even do that now ! No idea how far away you have to be standing from a public building for it to be okay.

Not TiT at all, as this is common in many other countries and states that have gone smoke-free.
There usually is something like a 20 foot, or 20 meter perimeter that smoking is not allowed in.
Why? The main reason for it is two-fold:
- to prevent smoke from blowing back into the buildings
- to prevent smokers from standing in the doorway to 'catch a smoke', and (see above).
A lot of the finetuning of such rules and laws is simply because dumb people force it... This applies to smokers, just as it does to regular folks with laws that aren't smoking related.
Nevertheless, I do welcome this more stringent approach, which appears to have serious intent -- of course, only until the PMs that have stakes in the Tobacco monopoly of Thailand notice their profits slipping
