I had a similar complaint, which I was told was Dhobie's Itch. A purely self-determined and self-administered treatment, was to use a solution containing hexachlorophine. This substance is not dangerous and is a general antiseptic, so perhaps its worth a try before you seek proper medical assistance.

OK, Bucksfun, guilt has set in. That, and remembering how miserable I was whan I found myself in your predicament after a month or so in BKK, prompts me to give a more considered answer.
I went to Bumrungrad, consulted a nice lady dermatologist, who gave me some cream anti-fungal with a bit of cortisone to stop the itch. Although it worked for a while, I had a relapse in about 3 weeks. Then I was given an oral anti-fungal (forget the name), which, after a week or so, seemed to do the trick. It wasn't pleasant to take (a little dyspepsia), but better than having a red, itchy rash in my groin.
I guess the answer is to see a physician who has some experience in tropical climates. The doc at Bumrungrad said she treats a lot of farangs with the same problem. I guess we aren't prepared for the onslaught of microbes we encounter whenever we leave our cocoons...
While at home, a product called Lotrimin AF, which can be purchased over the counter, has helped a lot. If it is Jock Itch or Dhobi's, it takes a LONG time, and requires careful and attentive changing of your shorts, and thorough drying of your package after bathing, which you should do regularly. This is followed by sparing re-application of the Lotrimin. It may take a couple of MONTHS to get rid of it. As always, if it gets worse, or changes appearance, get thee to a doc.

I believe it’s a monger’s duty to read up on such matters so that informed decisions can be made in this lifestyle, especially since stds can play a big part in the mongering lifestyle not to mention the epidemiological evolutional differences between HIV in Asia and the US that people seem to be unaware of. Since I've never been to LOS, but plan to for the first time next month, I thought I'd contribute to the cause in the one forum I know a little about via personal experience and the stories friends tell me. Plus I work in health.

If it aint still swollin up and red and itchy you may just have post BKK blue balls. A nice visit to your local oriental massge palor may help but the only way to cure the BKK brain obssesion is to go here http://www.expedia.com and book another flight to Thai and do check in anytime you like but you may never leave.
