There's a lot of good info here. But I have a question. Does it matter if you fly in from an infected country or not? I have a chose between flying through Taipei or Tokyo. If I can avoid it, I would rather not go through the extra hassle of inspections, check ups or having to wear a mask. I know I probably won't have to go through any of this but if changing my flight with lessen my chances then I just fly through Japan. A quick response would be appreciated since I have to book my flight in the next 24 hours. Thanks.

I flew in from a non SARS country last week. Saw only a few Asian people with masks. No mention made of SARS on the flight or on arrival at Bangkok Airport. You would never know it existed.

dude , If you come in from a SARS affected country then :- FIRSTLY :- your aircraft will not park at the normal bays but be parked way way out where it will be fumigated after the passengers and baggage are unloaded . As a result you will have to be transported by bus ( sometimes the journey seems longer than the flight !!). SECONDLY :- You will have to undergo the screenings and checks that I have detailed in an earlier post on this thread . If you come in from a country that is NOT SARA affected then the above does not apply .

So, if you pass through a country in transit, as I am with 2 hours to kill at Singapore airport and do have to change planes, you'll end up having to go through the screening process? I guess you'd have to, even though it is meaningless (as if you had just caught there would be no symptoms). Do you then automatically have to do the check ups at a Dr, or only if they suspect anything on arrival.

xplurer , Unfortunately I cannot answer the query raised in your latest post as I have never ( in the past 4 months ) come into Bangkok after "transitting" through the airport of a SARS affected country . However I would guess that everyone on a plane coming from a SARS affected country would be subject to the screening procedures . For a detailed description of the procedures please see my earlier posts on this thread .

I flew EVA into Bangkok (via Tapei in May). Upon entry into LOS given Health Card (Yellow booklet). It states you must be exaimed by a doctor after 2 days then every three days for first 10 days or wear a mask for 10 days. So I did neither. When I left LOS in June the yellow card was not even looked at. They made sure they got the 500baht exit payment though.
