They ask have you ever used the services of prostitutes or engaged in homosexual behaviour? Answer yes to either and they don't want your blood. It just shows how the medical profession views what we do i.e high risk behaviour.

Interesting one that, and in the west possibly not true, I have read some studies produced that have suggested more sexually transmitted infections are passed on through casual heterosexual sex than hetrosexual sex with prositutes in brothels largely in part because sex with prositutes under these cirucmstances will very often involve contraception and an awareness of risk and knowledge and care of use of contraception. Casual heterosexual sex usually involves large amounts of alcohol and rather less concern for consequences. The medical profiession is obviously reducing risk. The reson they ask about sexual behaviour is that 'supposedly' the antibodies than indicate HIV infection can take up to 3 months to appear (some studies havre shown 6 - 12months, although how they can come to thoses conclusions definitively I have no idea) so if an idividual gave blood he/she could give a sample that was HIV positive but had not yet produced antibodies to identify it as HIV if it was given during the 'window'. So if they removethe perceived risk groups then they reduce risk because currently in the west at least, the chances of a healthy, white, hetrosexual testing positive to HIV is not statistically significant (although I have no idea whther they make any distinctions on race, I believe not.) It is interesting to note that they have to make these disticntions when people offer to donate blood because they cannot test someone for HIV itself, because noone has ever found it, so no test for HIV itself actually exists. The pharmaceutical industry also cannot cure it, so they say, but they have found a way to manage it, by producing a treatment that costs a huge amount and makes them a huge amount which is fantastic, for them at least.

For every batch of condoms produced, the quality assuarance inspector will sample a small number of condoms for leakage verfication. Now, if the dude samples 30 out of 1000 condoms, and all passed the verification tests, the condoms are safe and functional. Now who is to say, that the remaining 970 condoms which he didn't pick would be functional? Your guess is as good as mine!
