I am rather surprised that these bars which we visited already enforce the new rule.
I believe there is a 'warning' time until May 31st to comply...
of course there is smoking in the outside sections of the bars. ever wonder why they built them??
Well, believe it or not... there are some guys, including me, who had their share of (half) naked girls and rather watch the crowd moving by....
Although, if there is smoking outside, I rather look at the naked girls again...
Last update: No customers smoking in Shark. But we sat next to the DJ and guess who smoked and polluted the air?

Yes, the Shark DJ was busy smoking up a storm, even though there were several "No Smoking" signs up. And, unlike places like Angelwitch which regularly reminded punters that there was no smoking, at Shark there was never a mention of it during the 3-4 hours that I was there.
However, didn't see any customers smoking. Although there was a group of Fins that were obnoxious and drunk as skunks.
Also, AFAIK, every bar in the Queen's Park Soi 22 beer bar complex allowed smoking and many still had ash trays out. Including Jen's bar.

Yes now you like a genius building yours over 2 years ago.
Smoking ban seems in effect at Glow last Sat., but people were smoking up like a storm in after hours place 'Tunnel" so I guess if you are paying the MIB to break one law you can just pay more for another.

I do have one question about this new smoking law - granted, I do think it's a good idea to have a pretty comprehensive ban on smoking indoors of public establishments, restaurants, bars, etc...
Two questions:
- is this Thailand-wide, or mostly the main tourist ghettos?
- would this regulation still permit establishing a separate, non-public club, where smoking would be allowed, but access is restricted to members, and there is no access for the general public - something like a cigar smoker's club, for example?
What exactly does the law stipulate, and what exceptions are there to it?

Interesting. So the GoGo pays a fee for a Smoking Club license, and for the first couple months customers get a fluorescent stamp on their hand designating them as members when they come in. After that, everybody forgets about it.
