I expect that the Thai government really does not give a damn what you believe your rights are.

Seriously, if you feel so strongly about it vote with your feet and stay away from LOS. If not, then 'put a sock in it' and quit complaining...
Hear, hear!

Though I propose we encourage Mel to vehemently discuss how he is being wronged with the local constabulary. We can probably sell tickets for that spectacle, however short it may last...

As for Mel voting with his feet - great idea!

I don't know if it is free, but sex during a massage is usually cheaper than sex during a marriage.

You pay for the massage?

Typically I just pay the ladies to spend some time with me. Can I help it that they like to give me a massage, and even toss in some sex as well?

Why do people get so upset and argue so much about the smoking ban. Is it not just another law that you obey or not. What is right in one country is against the law in another. One may say that you should uphold the law in the county you live. But surely the most important thing is you are a good person.
Everybody breaks some of the government mothering laws. Speeding, after hours drinking, buying alcohol between 2pm and 5pm, going to the soapy, parking, spanking there children, there are so many. I think when most look at what has gone wrong in all our country's. It is the basics, nothing to do with mothering laws.
If the governments want to stop smoking and drinking. Easy, stop selling tobacco and alcohol. Oh no can't do that, because they make to much tax.
I am the biggest smoker in the world and go where I can smoke. I have no problem with non smokers not wanting my smoke. Just give everyone equal choice. Smoking bars and no smoking bars. Whats wrong with that?
Just live your life to your own laws. Not the mafia governments of this world, that have destroyed most good things and ways in it.

Is there a law against spanking your GF? I just want to know if I am breaking any additional laws.

One thing about laws is that they (governments) never ever abolish any laws. Some of the laws still on the books in the USA are laughable.

Apart from prohabition which indirectly led rise to the mafia as it is today. So they(governments) need more money and resources to curb the ' problem ' they created and are without a doubt the largest mafia organisations in the world outside of religions.

Meatywsg got it 100% coorect onpage 5,,,"Mel, for me your hitting it right on the nail....all about choice.....if you don't like the second hand smoke, why don't YOU go outside or to another bar.....oh yeah, you can't because they're all smoking bars, hmmm, but we're in the minority yet all of the bars are full of smokers ?

Mel touched on it, China Sailor poopoo'ed it, but it's something I feel is totally fair.....let the bar decide, thats right, god forbid allowing someone a choice, but why not, why not let the bars decide whether they will go for smoking or not ? Very simple, big stickers on a door indicating whether smoking is allowed or not, that way us smokers can goto bars and smoke, and you non smokers can goto bars and be out of the smoke, likewise these poor soles who are forced to work in smoke filled bars (uhm!) can choose to work in a non smoking bar....wow imagine that, the right to choose, a win for all, amazing, so simple. I guess the only downside with this idea is that evenutually all bars would switch back to being smoking bars, after a decline in revenues.

Incidentally, I am totally for no smoking in restaurants or places where food is served, totally agree, eating something whilst someone is smoking is not nice, fully accept that one. But drinking a beer in a bar....geez.

I also fail to see why Mel is selfish, because he chose to smoke ? if you don't like second hand smoke then don't hang around Mel, why does Mel have to change his way of life to please yours ?

And lets be honest about this, smoking will continue to be allowed throughout the whole of Thailand, it won't be stopped, it will probably be stopped in the western orientated bars, and RCA and ratchada areas, but outside of them, puff away, bit like the 2am closing enforcement.

---------------
Choice,,true free alternatives.

This would be incomprehensible to those that dream, almost salivate at STOPPING others from what they concieve as incorrect. This would stop them from dominating, ruling, dictating to others.
Sounds a bit like BKTF at times.

Why do we have to go our of our way, to accommodate you? Of course, in your chosen example, it's easy to comply with, simply by not hanging around with you - just as long as we also have the choice to request you to be turned away, should you want to come into a place that we frequent. I mean, it's our choice, right?

Kinda like what you're trying to do?

Also, this isn't about eradicating smoking altogether - just to create shared public spaces that are smoke free - and by your own reasoning, if you want to smoke, you are free to go to any other place in Thailand, where smoking is allowed, or tolerated.
