I know this is an old subject, but it is one of the most common STDs around.
Found this on a web site and wondered whether anyone had experience with Item 6 and the particular technique of 6A. Any "Glad wrap users or dentists out there".
I have already ruled out options 1 and 2 like any normal male would, but have a great love of diving and seafood.

What can I do to reduce my risk of getting chlamydia?
1.Abstinence (not having sex)
2.Mutual monogamy (having sex with only one uninfected partner)
3.Water-based spermicides are not recommended for the prevention of chlamydia. Recent studies have shown that nonoxynol-9 (N-9), which is found in most water-based spermicides, is not effective in preventing chlamydia.
4.Latex condoms for vaginal and anal sex.
5.Since chlamydia can be transmitted even if the penis or tongue does not completely enter the vagina, mouth or rectum, using latex condoms at the beginning of sexual contact until there is no longer skin contact is the best form of prevention.
6.Several barrier methods can be used to reduce the risk of transmission of chlamydia during oral sex. A non-lubricated condom can be used for mouth-to-penis contact.
6A. Household plastic wrap, a dental dam, or a latex condom cut-up and opened flat can reduce the risk of transmission during mouth-to-vulva/vagina or oral-anal (rimming) contact.
Reason being, a friend recently caught it from an Oral session and it ended up infecting his EYES. Yes we all know his head was.
Fortunately, he was directed to a very good prescription antibiotic and a low dose of Steriods (to minimize swelling), but it took him two weeks to recover. Meanwhile he had to follow Option 1

A bad rap for your friend, but given all the guys who go down on BGs as a matter of course, I would guess this is a very rare occurrence.
Re 6a, I really can't see the point - there's more than enough plastic in our love lives already, and this strikes me as getting ridiculous. You certainly wouldn't be able to perform properly down there, and I think I'd rather not bother.
On top of that, dental dams are not expected and not normally used. I think there's a danger using one might be considered slightly insulting, and thus spoil the mood.
All told, just not worth the (probably v minor) risk, imho. It seems that even if you do draw the short straw, it isn't the end of the world.

Me, I would opt for a course of Antibiotics prior to starting my run in BKK.

Yes I stumbled across Zithromax a while back and always put myself on a course of it when I am in Bkk. Start taking the tab the day before I arrive and finish 2 days after leaving. Trips last about 5 days
Question: I do this 3 to 4 times a year, (at say 3 month intervals) with or without the Chlamydia diagnosis, am I likely to build up any immunity to it.

Don't wanna overuse Zithromax unnecessarily....can have some bad long term side affects.....(not saying craig is overusing)....but I wouldn't recommend it being taken regularly throughout a 2 month holiday or something. Zithromax is ofetn taken in one hit at 4 X 250mg tablets....a good blast out!

Tetracycline twice a day for ten days will clear this problem up. Other than craigoz experince I thought Clymadia was not much of a problem for men. Other than spreading it around. In women they get a discharge and can cause infertility.

Hey you guys I dont have the problem and haven't had a dose for over a year now. Casting dispersions on my good character, are we!!.
No, the reason for the post was to make some people aware that whilst the risks are low, you can actually get it from oral with a lady and it can ultimately infect your eyes, as it did with my mate.
Dont let anybody tell you it impossible and that only ladies get Chlamydia.
His problem was that he didnt recognize what he had until it was well on the way, so he had a very bad time and yes he was also put on a course of Zithomax.
He couldn't distinguish between all the piss he drank making his eyes bloodshot and what he thought might be conjunctivitis. Actually his eyes went a bit green in colour.
So when your head is down and your tounge is out, keep your eyes shut!!!Only kidding.
