I am debating whether to unlock my ericsson T28 phone
here in the U.S. for 25$ or just bring it as it and hope
that somebody will do it in BKK.
Do you guys know for sure that MBK or somebody can
unlock an Ericsson?

No, not sure.... you gotta find it out yourself. But knowing these wizards working in MBK ypu got a good chance.
But if it can be done no more than US$10..... probably less.

UKYorkie and I had phones unlocked 4th floor MBK for 200 baht each. Whether that particular phone can be unlocked is not 100%. I'd say 95%. I forgot the stall number where we had ours done, but just go to a stall with a hot TG working there and chat her up while the phone is being unlocked.

Seriously, yeah, if your phone can be unlocked, the guys on the 4th floor at MBK can do it - be sure to look for a booth with acutie. Prices between 200 and 300 Baht.
Got three phones unlocked there.

I didn't know phone unlocking can be made an exciting event!
Gawd, I am in love with BKK and I haven't even been there once.
Now, if for some reason the fine folks at MBK are unable to unlock this T28, I assume I can rent/buy a phone there itself? I just want to walk out with a working phone.

If you got enought money to travel from the US to bangkok I would suggest to get rid of your 5 years old T28 and got something new in MBK.
Better spend some 10K on a nice phone than 500 Bath unlocking a dinosaur !

I tried to get a Siemens A50 unlocked a few days ago. MBK couldn't. I know it can be done because a friend's identical model was unlocked last year in Zimbabwe.
Moreover my original O2 contract expired some months ago.
I leave on Monday night, so other suggestions are needed soonest, as I'd like to get a local Sim card before I leave, rather than buy a new phone, which do not seem that much cheaper than in UK. Any suggestions there though?
