hi guys, I am planning to buy a digital still camera in bangkok,anybody know any shop or place that offer reasonable price or offer good package? thanks for sharing information!!

I planed to buy a digital camera in BKK when I was there, I only checked the MBK place but the prices was about the same that here in France, maybe a little less but nothing terrible, so to avoid any warranty problem I changed my mind.
I was told that many other places in Asia are better for that kind of shopping

If you have to buy it in Bkk, try Pantip, they have plenty of camera shops.
But price wise, you may find many better places, not sure if Hing Kong much cheaper, but seems singapore definitely is. So if your coming through either of those, have a look there instead.

Pantip was the place that I bought my Sony T1 digital in July and got it for 2/3 the BEST price I could in Aus (and that was a special deal at cost).
Oz will tell you that Singapore is cheaper still - as long as you go to the right places. If you are stopping over in Sin, PM him to tell you where in Sin to go, or to post his answer on here for everyone.
As for Pantip, make sure you know what you want and spend the time bargaining against the various shops. I went to 4 before I knew that the price I got wouldn't be beaten.

hi guys,thanks for the advices,actually I am living in singapore,but since the camera is intend as a present for my thai friend,i thought it might be better to buy in Thailand coz she might need thai language manual to understand how to use the camera and also for warranty purpose.

The warranty at pantip finishes at the front door, please dont be under any illusion that any shop will honour what they say, thats my personal experience

Warranties on brand name digital cameras from Pantip or anywhere else are manufacturer's warranties, not a warranty from the retailer. The warranty is as good as anywhere.

I disagree with Glosterboy....certainly the bigger dealers in Panthip are highly reputable.
the big one at the top whose name always escapes me had the best price for the item I wanted to buy...a CG Casio Exilim special, no bargaining required, best advertised price and I'd been to Ratchada, MBK and Panthip that day.
I thought it was pronounced Glawsterboy anyway?..

I strawled around Pantip on my visit in July. Got dizzy about alle the shops there - most selling about the same (only in Thailand).
I was looking for a battery charger for my Canon Ixus 500 camera (not to be found, and that did somewhat put a damper on my holliday), but I did look into the prices on digi cams to, compared to the prices in Norway.
I was a bit surpriced when I found out that the price level was about the same, somewhat in favour of Norway.
