Of course, there's no such thing as FREE wireless as all the below places will require a "Purchase" of some sort (drink, food...). An extensive list was published in the Herald Tribune months ago and I only kept the locations that I would find a use for... here they are :

NF - Thanks. Useful information.
I just saw a Compaq Presario (2GHz, 512MB RAM, 60GB HD, wireless/ethernet/phone, 2 USBs, combo DVD-CD/WR drive) for $600 USD out the door. Since my TGF has high speed ethernet in her appt (she calls it "our" appt) as part of the rent I'll probably buy one and bring it over to her.
I can then also use it at some of the places listed.

Regarding the freebie sites noted above, I heard one time that the Conrad shuts it off in the evening, maybe 6pm? They don't want too many people in the lobby just to use the wifi.
Also, inside the mall connected to the Conrad (All Seasons Place) I was picking up two free WIFI signals. I set up on the second floor in the table area near the pretzel stand and plugged in to an AC outlet on a pillar. The table was next to the pillar, so there was no cord stretched across the floor. It was right at my knee. Curiously, the security guards came through their on there rounds and gave me a hard time about being plugged in. Didn't seem to speak any English, or want to make any effort when questioned about what their objection was. Maybe that's their way of limiting time people spend there using wifi.
I believe there's a Starbucks or some such coffee place in All Seasons Place that also has wifi.

Starbucks is normally not a free access it is normally very expensive to use access in a starbucks.
