I already know what griffin will tell me but for me it is more convenient to have ONE phone.
Quote: so why the hell do ypou guys bother of buying a new phone in the usa when you get them brand new at these prices in los. these are prepaid cards, with no further commitments!!! SO THINK ABOUT THIS BEFORE YOU SPEND USD 250 IN THE US!!!
I have a motorolla V60 that has to be unlocked but once it is I can buy a SIM anywhere in the world and it will work, just a couple questions about SIM's. 1- Can they be purchased at 7-11? 2- How do you activate them and get assigned a local telephone number? 3- How do you re-charge the SIM once you use all the time?

some 7-11 might have sim cards but usually you would buy them in the malls like MBK! cost is from thb 600 to thb 2.000, depending on the airtime credit they have and which provider they are! you choose the number you like from the stock any dealer has and then just follow the descreption on the card to register. it is also in english so pretty simple! to recharge your credit just by some more airtime at various shops including 7-11's. i know i should not say that but the cost for unlocking your phone in america will be more than buying a new phone in bangkok. anyway i guess you already know that!

is the v60 a triple band or only dual band? if not you can only use it in thailand on the older ais network as dtac and orange use the more advanced international standard 1.800 mhz technology which is not compatible with the frequencies used in the states!

It is a triple band and works on 3 different frequencies, quite an advanced phone with internet access too. Cost to un-lock it in Canada is only $50.00 CAD ($35.00 USD)

well sounds reasonable and you will be also fine with the cheaper providers like dtac and orange in thailand as you have a triple one! what is so advanced on internet access? we have that for 3 years already!

To tell you the truth, I think SEA is way further advanced than we are, that is why I am in the business I am in. I want to find the one product over there that we do not have over here yet and be the first to introduce it to North America, with enough persistance I will find it.

You can also go to the DTAC shop next to Robinsons dept store and TOPS supermarket on Suk. You can buy a DTAC or AIS pre-paid sim there. I don't have 2 phones only one so don't feel bad. the good thing is once it is unlocked you can use it anywhere there is GSM service if u have a triband phone like I do. I have the SE T68i and it works like a charm everywhere I go.
