Any given account got disconnected after 90 days of innactivity (meaning no recharge) regardless of credit expiry date.

Untrue, mine are valid up to two years ahead and have been left for 8 months, without use, twice since I left and do not become inactive.

Well sounds extremely odd. Who is your service provider and when was it ? Nowdays the norm is 3 months. Some are even trying to go below.

Cool Dude
Ok, let me get this straight,
The sim card I got on my last trip has a 300bt credit that expires on the 27th June. the last activity was on the 4th May. Once 90 days have passed, (early August) the account will be suspended but the number will stay valid for another 9 months before being wiped if not used again. When I return in October I just recharge and I keep the number and get the original 300 bt credit, correct?
Question: if that is correct, how do you recharge your card if your service has been suspended? You can't just go to 7-11 and buy a recharge card coz you need to send the recharge card number from your phone? right??

Cool Dude, if your credit expires on 27 June, you must recharge before 27 June or your credit will become zero on 27 June. It is unlikely you will get that money back.

I suggest you recharge before you lose the credit (easier said than done if you are not in LOS or know someone there who can buy you a recharge card). You can also go onto a plan that give you a longer expiration period with each recharge. See my previous message in this thread for a link to all the 1-2-call plans and recharge dates.

Not sure about the suspension of the number or the re-issue of it, I suggest that you contact AIS to ask them.

AIS - 1-2-call:
Phone: 0-2271-9000
email: callcenter@ais.co.th

I last used my One2Call in early November 2004.

There was some credit left.

Will it work in June ?

Another hour putting in the phone numbers and letting everybody know my new number ?

I did however register in May 2004 and it seems to have made some difference ?

If you have a lot of numbers in your address book, I suggest a SIM card reader that allows you to back up the numbers on your PC and then transfer them to a new SIM card if you lose the old one.

AIS 1-2 call

SIM purchased August 2002

I left Thailand end 2003, left 150B, and it was valid until
June 2005

Visted Thailand August 2004, worked straight away with the existing credit, used it and when I left it was valid until August 2006

Visted last month, used it straight away with the existing 80B credit, ran out dur to excess gobbing off in the taxi. Recharged on arrival at 7/11.

When I left two weeks ago it was valid until May 2007.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but no special tariff, but I will need to sort out it being registered before the end of the year or it will be gone.

Cool Dude
Thanks for the info Coloradoguy,
Seems like a lot of fuss just to keep the number. If I had throught it through back in April/May I could have done things better. I can save all numbers to either the sim or phone memory so I think I will let this slid and pick up a new one in October.
Cheers,
CD

I notice each time I recharge mine it only adds 2 months to it! Yurune must be on an older and better plan! Gives me another excuse to get back more often!

It recharges for an amount of days that is shown on the card

if you add 300B you get 30 days added

if you add 500B you get 50 days added

I only use my 'Ye Olde Nokia 5110' in Thailand.
It looks like I will have to buy a new sim card.
No matter !

Damn being a 'Time Lord' confuses things at times !
