I use Fujitsu-Siemens. I have 2 Lifebooks, one the E series and the othere the S series. S series is better for travel. One good thing.....Fujitsu have a shop at Ploenchit with very helpful staff. They will fix anything for u. Given the almost inevitable problems people have with laptops this is a useful service. Your guarantee is valid worldwide. prices are competitive...u can get cheaper for sure but quality of the machines is good.

For my private use I purchased a Samsung V20 2,5 years ago - good quality, perfect display, no trouble at all; only 2 USB ports and a bit heavy to carry around.
From my company I got a Dell Lattitude 610 - no hassle until now but appears to be a bit unstable, the plastic is cheap and I expect to break something as time goes by;and the display is not as good as it should be.

My next one ? Maybe a Sony Vaio or again something from Samsung.

2GB RAM

Very Good but for High-end users but very expensive (the 2 GB RAM only cost me about $2000)

Use a Toshiba Satellite for work but have just swapped from the small 10" screen Sony Viao with built in camera to a 12" Apple Powerbook as a personal laptop.

I prefer the small ones a I travel alot, often on small shitty planes where a 15" Toshiba takes up halk of your luggage allowance.

Agree with the previous posts about the Apple. Much prefer this system to Microsoft and personally will not swap back.

BS

I need to replace my shitty Time laptop. Should I buy a new one in London or wait until I arrive in Bangkok (I'm going to be there for at least a year, teaching) ?

WTF? I have 2 GB of RAM in my Apple PowerBook, and I only paid a total of $230 for all the RAM. What, is your RAM solid gold, or something crazy as that? It's not like you're getting any better performance for paying $2K.

Well, this what it costs !! Click the following URl for the price of 1GB, multiply *2 (for 2GB),add the shipping and some profit for the dealer where I bought it. Now is that $2k ??
