I have a calling card that works from the US without sending caller ID. Is it possible to buy a card that works in BKK that will not send caller ID? Or one that transmits a number that isn't mine? Thanks for all the help so far!

It has indeed nothing to do with the setting in your phone (how did you come up with that perfect info, Dottie?). It is network related. I have tried it with both AIS (1-2-call) and Orange and assume it's the same for DTAC. It simply doesn't work. Attempts to change the settings result in refusal by the network. It's a pity as I often would like to call a BG without 'leaving my phone number'.

It is likely that when using a local calling card bought in BKK, it will transmit a caller ID (maybe yours). My using an AT&T (or similar) card, you go through a Thailand "toll free" number to reach the US system, then your call to Thailand would be routed back and through this process, the ID of the original caller is lost.

Not sure if this will help you but there are a few websites out there that spoof caller id. Meaning you call an 800 number and it asks you the phone number you want to call and the number you want sent as the caller id. The website I use is: http://www.spoofcard.com. Of course you have to pay for this service but it is pretty cheap.
