Robin hood close to Soi 33 also reportedly has free access for customers.
A couple of free access points can be picked up in the winking frog on Soi 7

Confirmed that Tarawadee MP has free open wireless.
Although JW Marriott charges for internet, I connected to an open access point called truehome_wifi from my room on the 14th floor overlooking soi 2. Not sure where its coming from.

Someone with a bit of time and inclination ought to take a stroll down Sukhumvit soi 18 and sniff out a free Wi-Fi hotspot close to the Rembrandt Hotel. There was a nice write up in the papers last week about a new cafe there. One of the features was the free Wi-Fi....
Apparently, the cafe is also a sales venue for the companies' ambitions to expand their crystal business. From the article, they aspire to be the Swarovski of Thailand.
Thus, the best I can say is look for the BLING on 18 and Wi-Fi away.
