There is one problem with some of the HTC products. They have a video driver problem. The HTC Cruise and HTC TyTN II both have this problem. The HTC Diamond I believe doesn't.
HTC invites owners of older devices, to purchase the newer device (Diamond) in order to correct this problem.

Enthusiasts have managed to port the proper drivers to the older phones, and it has thus been proven to work on older hardware (something which HTC refused to acknowledge) I believe HTC's response to these amateur fixes, was to cease and desist the enthusiasts -- I have a feeling they won't be enthusiasts for longer...

What moron makes a phone worth hundreds of dollars and can't be bothered to add a bloody flash so you can use the camera inside

My HTC Cruise has just about everything but a dildo built in yet no f***ing flash!!!
Apparently, that's a problem it shares with another competing device - What is the megapixel capacity of the Cruise and/or Diamond?

i was a happy iphone user and about to upgrade to 2.0 os when I lost it. I did research again for my best option. I wanted push mail, GPS, good camera. Nokia E71 got a good review in cnet but my company pushmail goodlink not support symbian os; blackberry bold also look good option with reviews but not yet available in thailand; ended up buying the new samsung Omnia as runs win mobile 6.1 so support my mail, has gps, 5mb camara for kids photos and one app I really like is auto business card reader. you just take an auto picture of the card and it import into outlook.it.works well and will be really useful as travel a lot. it also 3 g quad band but not for us spectrum I read. it come with full line up off accessries. first week been pretty happy but interface nit as slick and intuitive as iphone. I still an iphone fan but for my needs right now the Omnia seems to be the good choice. our company IT just announced they will pilot iphone pushmail next year but still a way off to wait

...Windows mobile just kind of sucks at doing that but I have not bothered to really try it...

I know that you are not a golfer but Windows Mobile has an excellent golf caddy/rangefinder program that leverages the GPS in your phone.

There seems to be a lot of GPS related software for Windows mobile but I think I will stick with Symbian as they encourage more 'open source' development of programs for their OS...

That is a lame excuse. The HTC Cruise is not an older device it is a new device.

In fact some of the older devices don't have this problem check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIJWAu6IRe4

My old QtekS200 also known as the Jamin didn't have this problem.

The HTC Cruise has a 3 meg camera and works very well outside it is just inside it sucks due to no flash.

There are many good things I like about the phone. The GPS is great. I can use it as a portable modem for my laptop no problem. Lots of extra software you can download for windows mobile.

It has no keyboard. It did take me awhile but now I have gotten very good and typing on it. I bought an after market keyboard for it. Figure on spending a couple hours to figure it out but once you do you can type very, very fast.

Also the Microsoft voice command (not voice commander) works very well. I can push on my jawbone for 1 second and it will pull up the dialing pad. Then I can say call Bill Smith. It will then find that contact and ask if I want to call home/office/mobile. All of that is done without having to create voice tag for contacts. You just install it and then speak your commands and it works.

Daffy yes we use Exchange but our IT policy for secure VPN client build only qualified for win mobile & blackberry just now hence chose Omnia.
Our IT asked for 100-200 pilot testers for iphone recently internally and had 6k requests within first day.

I was not critical of the devices - HTC devices are generally well-built and nicely designed (why else would they have designed and built OEM products previously), it is the attitude of management, and their cavalier attitude towards their customers that would make me exclude any of their products, if I was the market for a WinMo device.
