Daffy do you think I should buy the dongle before I go? as I have to take the Family straight up Country Nam Muck Surin Province
about 50klms from Cambodian border
I have no idea what I need as it's all new to me?
I have never had to use a wireless network before
So I need a dongle and a sim?
?
I just have to keep working while I'm away
Reply to e-mails and just sending layouts small files 20kb, won't need to down load any thing.

If your phone is wifi enhanced, and can sync with your laptop, you don't need that stuff. If you can get a phone signal you just use the internet through the phone line. DTAC, and AIS has this option without having to have any special equipment, except with your phone being able to access the internet.

Go to your Phone provider, get a GPRS Package (I think it's 100 thb for 20 hours) and then connect to internet via your phone.
Best is to go to DTAC or AIS with both your Laptop and your Phone and let them show you how it all works

In your case, the suggestion to take your gear to the store and have them set it up is best -- AIS has a deal for 1000 Baht / month for unlimited access, which depending on your use is the best deal.

I went into my local computer store yesterday and I now know why you rave about apple
I just have to have one off those imac 27inch computers
So NICE and the lap tops Beautiful and so thin
I bought my son an ipad for christmas and I think when it's time to get a new Computers I will be opting for the imac
$2049AUD not bad price for state of the art

Get the cheapest mate. You don't need 3G as you said yourself, just accessing emails. And you're not there for the whole year, so you don't need those monthly plans. Just go for the minimum.
