You can also shut down your computer and when it is re-starting press F2 to enter the setup screen.
Once you are there use the arrow keys (your mouse will not work) to scroll over to "EXIT" then down to "load default values" then press enter.
Press "enter again...
and again...
and one more time.
This loads all default values and should correct your re-direct problem, I had (and still do) the same problem and have to re-load the default every 3 or 4 days. Something on your system is causing the browser to do f_cked up things.
It could also be the internet gremlins.

Ducks, l had a similar experience to you a few days ago. Mine happened l think due to Ŭthe "Thai girls pic" thread where l clicked on a link, got up to get a drink, came back to find l had been redirected to a hardcore site that had popups wanting me to agree to downloads. It was very persistent so l ended up shutting down my computer to finish my surfing. Next time l started up my computer, all my desktop icons etc. had vanished. ŬIt's never happened to me before. Took a while, but l retreived them, however some icons on my favourites list which l had modified have now reverted to the basic icon. BTW, my computer has XP and Norton hasn't picked up anything unusual.
I'm not in BKK just now, but did you ever manage to get AFL on satellite? I did find some info myself on free to air Aussie tv, but as l'm still not sure if l'll be staying in our current house longterm, l didn't want to set up a 3mt. dish. It turns out that the one of my local shopkeepers has a dish that he tells me gets AFL, so l might just watch it at his place for now.

AFL can be had by a couple of means. Some bars have a 'black box' (they all have several actually), that picks up the PNG signal.
AusTV used to transmit througout Asia, untill f_ckwit Johnny Howard pulled and sold it. They have now rebought/leased the transmitter in Darwin and its back on air. Although since 9+10 now do the footy, I'm not sure if they are broadcasting games. Have asked in a few of the UBC shops if the channel is available - they hadn't heard of it, although all the details oare on the web. Last week in Hua Hin I noticed a lot of the guesthouses had the Aus channel (blue healers etc), and a mate said he watched a game on the weekend - they used to be delayed, however.

Well, the only news is the same as before, you can get the sat dish that picks up ABCasia Pacific and that has the fotty on it. It is free to air but you have to buy the dish that picks up the PanAm I think its called sattelite and I think its between 15k and 20k baht. The Macro shop on ChongNonsi rd has a stall down stairs and they can tell you all about it and sell you it if you want, thats also set up. UBC do not have access to this channel, although not sure if you could pay someoen to hook into it, but as you have to move the sat to get the station, it may f_ck up UBC, not sure.
As for the puter problem, the icons and all lost info has been recovered, its just the problem with clicking on threads here now and being directed to the 'cannot find' page, becomes very annoying. And that thread you mentioned where you had the problem pop up, I did not open that one, so the result sounds the same as yours, but the cause may be different.
FB, I notice the old farts you were off to see have cancelled, I know an old fart with lips like his that could keep you entertained if you like, haha. By the way, if you off away this weekend and so are the Baron girls, you need a hand to keep those 10 breasts satisfied, 2 hands, 10 breasts, you have a problem.
